Actually, since 90% or so of the steroid stays in the GI tract, I would consider Entocort to be a "medium" gun.......relatively safe compared to prednsione and Imuran. It is often the first drug of choice, especially in a severe case of MC, and definitely indicated if asacol doesn't work.

so tomorrow they are going to go in and do a scope. usually with the kind they are doing tomorrow doesnt call so sedatives but last time it was so painful he couldnt do much he went ahead and did paperwork so i can get sedatives tomorrow. THANK GOODNESS!! i've been on entocort for a couple of months now. tomorrow we will discuss Imuran again. I've talked to some of my friends at CCFA who have been on it for years and said it took 6-11 months to start helping. I'm nervous about tomorrow. today wasnt very good i was sick all day long! I'm tired of hurting. So wish m eluck tomorrow! i love you guys!

Olivia best of luck to you tomorrow. I had the anesthesia with my last colonoscopy and it was quite easy. The prep was much worse than the scope.

Good luck and best wishes

Good luck, Olivia.

I know my first colonoscopy wasn't bad at all except for the prep. I had put it off for years and years and years because of the fear factor.

Best of luck to you Olivia,

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Good luck Olivia! I'll be having a colonoscopy on Fri. so will be especially interested in your experience.

Love,

Polly

P.S. Is there any reason why you can't just stay on the Entocort for 6 mos. or a year? And have you considered adding the gluten-free diet, too? I hate to see you jump to Imuran without giving safer treatments a chance to work.
I am a physician, and I would be terrified to take it. I would exhaust every other possible avenue first. Remember, most docs know almost nothing about MC and the best way to treat it -there is better info on this website than in most GI offices!

hey there lovely!

sorry to hear that life is still crappy.... good luck with the scope. hope the sedative means that it is quicker for you to recover.

choosing a treatment option is a big thing... and you have had it tough for the past couple of months and just want to feel well.

hope the day brings results that you are happy with and can slot into your life without too much hassle.

take care

Morning Olivia,

Good luck today and am very happy you were prescribed a sedative. Please do consider Entocort for a longer period than Imuran.

Love and Good Luck, Maggie
