Looooong weekend

Post by Peggy »

I had yesterday off and just took it real easy. Went for a nice long walk to get a latte and sipped on it while I walked home. Did the NYT crossword puzzle out on the deck in the beautiful sunshine :sun: Went for another long walk with Ron when he got home and had a fruit smoothie mmmmmm. Then we ordered in Chinese and watched a so-so movie.

Today I have to paint a wall in the living room so we can get the stereo set back up, it had to be moved so the plumbers could cut a great gaping hole in the wall to re-pipe. Later we go to see Sweden's fireworks show. There are three competitors this year - Canada, Sweden, and China. Canada and China compete on Wednesdays so I'll miss those (we don't get home until after midnight) but will see tonight's show and then maybe the grand finale next Saturday.

Tomorrow I need to try to remove all the dust left behind after the drywallers finished - what a mess! Ron will install our new tub surround in the bathroom.

Monday is a stat so will finish what I didn't get done the rest of the weekend and maybe find time for a nice :bike: as long as its not :umbrella: :lightningbolt: .

Hope everyone has a great one.

Love,

Painting is all done. Hanging plants have had the hangers washed. Living room looks good, but still need to put the stereo back together.

Now I'M showered and painted  .

Off to go out for dinner and check out them fireworks. Anyone remember the cool fireworks site I found last year? Let me go find it again. As I recall Lannie, and everyone else really liked it.

Here it is: http://www.maylin.net/Fireworks.html

Have a great night all - manyana!

Sounds like you have it all set. I hope that you get to go biking, and the weather is ok 4 U.

I chose not to go to my parents with my brothers, as they are putting a floating floor and then doing some repairs and painting. Mt parents place is a nice size, but with two major rooms being done all the furniture will have to be put into the kitchen and there will be no where to be if you are not laying the floor, which I wouldn't be doing, so I would be in the way.
N since I discovered that that red flushing in my cheeks was actually because I have had a low grade fever, (I have not had a fever since my early 20's) I knew that I would need to lay down allot. Just the long trip driving there is enough to do me in. So I am doing allot of R n R. The guys are away, and although they have a friend staying here to water the flowers and so forth, he is not here during the day. So I have taken advantage of that, and have gone for a swim in the pool and lazed around the pool. I even had a drink, with actual alcohol! Still have that fever, but silly me, I just never even dawned on me, I guess that might sound funny to someone else. For me though, I always feel fluish, with having other things wrong with me, and my temperature is usually lower then most people's is normally, so when my temp is 99 degrees, that is high for me. No wonder I have been dragging my behind so much more then usual? At least it is not as hot as it was, still hot, but not 40C.

The guys are getting the house a face lift, so we have a father and son fixing the odds and ends around the house, painting repairing the patios and so forth. Things are looking pretty good, with all the fresh paint. That is the nicest thing about living here, they take such good care of the house and property. It is very relaxing to just sit outside and read and watch Pebbles. And will be doing more of that. I wish I could still ride a bike, so you go girl and have some fun doing it.

Lots of hugs :bigbighug:

:toast: to you having a great long weekend and getting that :bike: ride in.

Well, even though we've been going most of the day (working, that is) doesn't look like there'll be much time for r&r tomorrow. I took the stereo stand outside today and lemon oiled it, don't want to put anything back in it until it soaks up that oil real good - so that'll be tomorrow. Oiled all the tables while I was at it. Polished and put back my little brass knick knacks, that took a loooong time - I need to minimalize! The blinds and all the hanging plants are hung back up and the living room looks almost normal now. I washed my wine rack and all the bottles in it as they were covered in dry wall dust. Polished the dining room light fixture and pictures, as well. I still have to tackle my bookshelf which means taking every single thing out and dusting it as it goes back...it's a big book shelf! The laundry still has to be done, too. WHEW!

Where is that maid when I need one???

Ron almost has the shower done, but he can't complete it until the plumbers come back and fix the shut off valves which for some strange reason they installed at a 45 degree angle HELLO! That'll have to wait until Tuesday because tomorrow is a stat holiday.

We did have time for a nice sunday dinner - pork roast, garlic smashed potatoes, and steamed carrots. The foods been ate, the dishes been done, I am now one very tired Pippi. At least this marg-all-righta isn't too heavy to lift  .

Hope you all have a great night - talk to you tomorrow (while I'm taking breaks!).

Whoa, sounds like you didn't get much R&R at all. But I know how that gyproc dust gets all over everything, even when you put dust clothes down, the dust gets through that too. And unfortunately you do have to clean every little nook and cranny after, and every little ornament and on and on. Been there, done that. It also takes forever to do too. Lets hope you can still get that bike ride in tomorrow. Do you still ride your bike to work in the summer?

Me, I had a swim today, just a short one. Still feel weird. Still have a low grade temp. I had to go out and get some groceries, and that was it, and that did me in. The only other thing I have done today was call and talk to my mom. She was also glad I didn't come, well only because I have not been doing well, and she said it would not have been good for me to be there with the whole house torn up. My brothers tore out the rugs and are putting in a floating floor. And since they got the rugs all out, they started to put the flooring in. Mom said she is basically staying in her own bedroom, as there is no place anywhere else. And I will get up there again soon.

Lets cross our fingers that you get to do some relaxing tomorrow.

Peg,

Whew, I'm tuckered out just reading about your weekend. Home improvments are a "good thing" especially if our partners are a part of them.

The fireworks competition sounds really neat- what is that all about anyway? Still going on next weekend?

Lannie and I just visited the fireworks link again- VERY COOL. She wanted to post but is pre-occupied with finishing a movie with Dad before he heads to bed. Asked me to say hi.

Maids are a "good thing". I don't have one either....LOL

Peg,
I'm sure the results will all be worth it. We all need a little "change" in our surroundings once in a while.

As for the maid.....I've always THOUGHT it would be a great thing but never had the chance to find out. LOL

Wendy - yep, I rode my bike to and from work the last two weeks in a row. It's great on the muscles AND the pocket book the way gas prices are going! Hope you can keep up the swimming...such a great exercise and so low-impact.

J & L - the fireworks are a competition Benson and Hedges puts on every year. We have three competing countries, always different ones. They compete in July/August and go Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday, and then the grand finale on the final Saturday. Usually about 300,000+ people show up to watch them. They are set off from a barge in a bay (English Bay) so the reflections are spectacular, too. They are accompanied by music, and if the country is really good the music matches the explosions of light. There was some talk of cancelling it last year, due to the vast number of people with some trouble makers, but hopefully that won't happen - the crowds have been welll behaved this year (so far).

Just having a cuppa then must get back to the grind. It's not a lot of fun, but it sure is rewarding...my place is just lookin' better and better!

Hi, Peg.

Ok, I'm comin over to help. I missed the reason for the improvements, but it sounds like things are looking good. I am starting on some late Spring cleaning also. My SIL from AZ is coming at the end of the month for two weeks. I like her company, but she and her sister are the type that don't lift a finger, and they use yours truly to take the place of their poor husbands while they are away...LOL. I'll bet the men are glad for the rest, but you ought to see me running back and forth while they sit on their butts and give me orders....LOL. My fault, I know. I tend to spoil folks, that is why they like to come to my house. Their brother..my husband..is the same way, come to think of it..LOL.

Keep the tea going, I'll be right over,

Love,

Geri
