Maybe Some Do-Gooders Aren't As Smart As They Think They Are

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Whether you think this result is good or bad, depends on whether or not you feel that drinking milk is good for growing kids. Regardless of how you feel about it, since the do-gooders who promoted this program, felt that milk is good for kids, then obviously it backfired on them. Do
-gooders are everywhere, (IOW, they're ubiquitous. LOL), and they're always out to protect us from ourselves, in any way that they can possibly keep us from enjoying our lives, but clearly, they aren't as smart as they think they are, because now a lot of kids don't drink milk at all, because the do-gooders convinced the schools to stop serving chocolate and flavored milk drinks:

As you can probably gather from my remarks, I'm not a big fan of do-gooders in general. The greatest risk to our personal freedoms in all aspects of life, is not big government, or dictators, or anything of that sort - it's well-intentioned do-gooders, (who, IMO, should mind their own business, and let everyone else mind their's). Numbering in the millions, they keep chiseling away, bit by bit, day after day, until one day, we won't have any personal freedoms left at all.

The Law of Unintended Consequences......... We see it everywhere, and most especially with your "do-gooders" who can't see beyond their narrow agenda because they might have to do some critical thinking.......
The law of unintended consequences is what happens when a simple system tries to regulate a complex system.

A perfect example of the Law of Unintended Consequences in practice, is the government trying the regulate the economy, (an assembly of simpletons trying to regulate a complex system).

Totally agree.

There is nothing worse then ill-informed arrogance, boosted by egotistical, self-important fed by ill thought through "moral superiority".

Tex,

Oh yes --

If there was to be a contest for an award in this category – my nomination would have to be Michael Jacobson, the founder and frequent spokesperson for the Center for Science in the Public Interest. (CSPI)

While it could be argued that CSPI has indeed been a force in the generalized modifying of some ingredients/products in the vast food/beverage marketplace today, they also have had the habit of making many claims - in a most pontifical manner - that have not proven to be true.

Located in Washington D.C., CSPI is purely a political action/advocacy group, not a group of scientists -- which their name would seem to imply.
