Down to 1/2 of one Imodium!
I have completely eliminated all fructose - all fruit - and all corn syrup ( really have to read labels) and I have been able to cut down on the Imodium to 1/2 of one pill in the morning. Hopefully I can eliminate the rest soon. I don't eat dairy either but it doesn't seem to cause D, just reflux. I eat most vegetables but only well cooked for now. My stools are almost normal and only 1 or 2 times per day. Smell and color is correct. I really feel like I have made tremendous progress! I am not GF or SF. This way seems to work for me. And no other meds. I only take a multi vit/min, fish oil, citracal, and my bioidentical hormones. We are all different and just have to find what works!

Wow! You really are making progress.
Congratulations. It's been a long, hard struggle, so the taste of victory is bound to be extra sweet, (no pun intended).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Fantastic news, Pat!! You've had a long, hard road and seem to finally have figured out what works for you. I'm glad you can eat most vegetables without reacting. It's pretty amazing that you are not GF or SF, but still progressing. For sure we each have to find our own way.
You and I have always had a pretty difficult path to remission and I'm glad that you are almost there. You give me hope.
Maybe someday we'll be able to add fruits back to our diets. I don't seem to have a problem with small bits of fresh rhubarb added to a muffin batter. I was estatic to find that I could eat one fruit again - and it's growing in my garden!

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Pat,
I am so thrilled for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will soon not need any Immodium. I'm still hanging in there with few issues. Fiber still causes me problems and I eat my veggies well cooked. When I eat raw salad I do take an Immodium to be safe. Like you I'm not GF or SF. I do partake of some cheese on occasion and haven't had any problems.

Thanks all!
Veggies are still well cooked. I haven't been brave enough to try salad. I think I am still healing from the fructose and especially from the antibiotics. The antibiotics were the worst. It's taken over 3 years to get over the last one!
Gloria - I don't think I have ever tried rhubarb. I will have to look it up and check out the fructose/glucose ratio.
I tried no imodium today. BM's (only 2) were looser but still close to normal. I just haven't quite reached normal yet but I will

Hmmm, Gloria. I just looked up rhubarb and in wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhubarb, it says that it can be used as a laxative. I really don't think I need that.
