Heart rate and CC

Post by dpaschal »

Has anyone ever had a problem with rapid heart rate and CC. Went to the dr this morning wondering if I was having a heart attack. The dr told me he thought it had something to do with my CC.

The only thing that comes to my mind is relative to what happens to your heart rate when you are reacting to one of the offending foods - read this:

Pulse test – A do-it-yourself test that involves taking your pulse before and after each meal. If your pulse rises by more than 10 beats per minute, there is a possibility that you are reacting to one of the foods just eaten. There are a lot of variables with this kind of test though, so it would be most accurate to keep records over a number of different meals to see what common denominators there are. Don't discount the possibility that the pulse has been raised purely by the act of eating, or by something that happened during the meal.

Donna,

Along that same line of reasoning, many people get tachycardia, (increased heart rate), from food additives, especially food dyes. For example, I can eat something with yellow number 5, and if I check my heart rate about 10 minutes later, I will usually find it to be elevated. I discovered this when my brother mentioned that a couple of his daughters reacted to yellow food coloring. When I checked myself, sure enough, I react to it also.

If you will click on the red link above all the forum pages, that says, "Search The Archives of This Discussion Board", and search the archives for the key word tachycardia, you will find a lot of old threads about tachycardia issues. The last was by CAMary, but she and her doctor were unable to find the cause.

The safe thing to do would be to ask your doctor to set you up with a monitor, to wear for a day, to record what is happening, just in case it might be connected with an actual cardiac event. Of course, in Mary's case, it never happened again, so the monitor didn't detect anything.

I am learning that there are other auto immune diseases which contribute to symptoms not related directly to MC or CC. But from my research it seems that if you are positive for MC (LC or CC) you are prone to other auto immune diseases. Can you concur Tex? It may be worth researching 'auto immune disease' symptoms and see what you match up to. Just my take on it but I'm not doctor.

Donna,

Another possibility - good old garden variety anxiety! It happens to many people before/during a stressful situation, like a doctor visit. Symptoms can include increased heart rate and blood pressure, shakiness, dizziness, a feeling that you can't take in enough air, a feeling of impending doom, etc. It is usually a perfectly normal response.
Did it go away after the visit?

Love,

Polly

Kim,

Autoimmune diseases tend to cause/coincide with other autoimmune diseases. IOW, autoimmune diseases often occur in groups. However, if the symptoms of MC are effectively controlled/prevented, then the odds of developing additional autoimmune diseases are reduced.
