well the first week i couldnt go to the bathroom i was very constipated so when i finally did my rectum would bleed. My D would get worse. i get the muscle shakes too kinda weird. My chest gets tight and have moments where its so hard to breathe. Plus its made my GERD worse. I get motion sickness out the ying/yang. My husband keeps wanting to take me to to ER.

i am soooo pleased that you got to do something 'normal' with your man. no words explain how good that feels. Pre-MC you very much take going out for dinner or going for a few drinks for granted.
I am good - i have finally recovered from the france adventures! (France is not the ideal place for someone with multiple intolerances.) Back home on my food dont really need to take meds so i am pretty chuffed with that.
Next week is TK (my man) birthday, so i have organised a weekend away up at the sunshine coast, we will be going to the restaurant we have been to before, that is owned and run by people who are cealiac's, after the big trip to france, going away and eating out in australia is 'easy peasy'
Congrats big time on the limited duty, that is fantastic. have my fingers and toes cross that things work out for the rest (and i can not wait for the day that we can get you to a decent doctor!!!)
take care babe

Olivia,
Bentyl is an anticholinergic, (anti-spasmotic), which means that it interferes with the natural movements of the smooth muscles in the gastrointestinal tract. IOW, it slows down motility of the gut. However, it can also interfere with certain muscles in various other parts of the body, which makes it very prone to undesirable side effects. Of course, since it interferes with natural digestive processes, it can also cause all sorts of digestive system problems. You shouldn't be taking it if you are experiencing the side effects that you describe. It can do absolutely nothing to suppress the inflammation of MC, so it will never be able to suppress the source of your MC. If it provides any benefits at all, they will be superficial, because it can only address certain symptoms, not the disease itself. Bentyl is best used for treating IBS, and issues such as diverticulitis.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I've taken it, Like tex said it will do nothing for inflammation. I found it help with the D but the side effect made it not worth it. I felt it gave make GERD, i never had it before i took this drug. If it helps you i would still use it for bouts of extreme D but otherwise i would stay clear. Just my 2 cents
