New at this whole entocort thing...

Post by Wndrwmn »

I just started on Entocort on Saturday (9mg per day) and am wondering how long it generally takes people to feel better. My D is better but things are still loose, but I've been nauseous and my stomach has ached. Guess I hoped it would make me feel better instantly....I know unreal expectations. Thanks!

Everyone seems to have their own response rate, depending on their symptoms, and how long they have been accumulating intestinal damage, but generally, improvement is seen within a week or two, though it takes longer for some of us. There are some posts about that topic in this thread, from a few days ago:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex pretty well covered it here. Of a similar note, it did take me a couple of weeks for it to kick in. Overall within 4 weeks even the bloating had significantly reduced.

Best wishes

Charlotte, the first view weeks I was on budensonide medication, I remembered having a very uncomfortable feeling in my bowels. I wasn't nauseous and also had no stomach pain, but it was my colon. Normally you don't feel or notice your colon. I could feel my colon, in a way it was upside down inside out in my body. It did go away after a couple of weeks.

although on 2 pill a day dosage, I got nauseous too. But than as a side effect.

Also I remember, when I put to much time in between my pill and eating my breakfast (more than 45 min to an hour) I got a stabbing feeling in my stomach. So I am not waiting to long to eat my breakfast. It took me a while to make the connection.

I remember asking my GI doc how to take the three pills.. all at once.. or spread through the day... ??? He said to take them any way they worked for me...LOL After several years I got down to one pill a day which I take in the morning... If I eat something I think may cause a problem.. I take one after I eat it.. (pizza for dinner... take a pill when done:)) I didn't add the things I was intolerant to until the entocort worked on a consistent basis.

Harma, the above was not my post. I can see how this happened as the person posting is WNDRWMN and I am WONDERWOMAN. I only mention this so others notice there are two people with similar names. I also recently started Entocort however I am doing great.
