Hi Maggie,
I have been seeing birds at the golf course. One, I only got a quick glimpse of. It was about the size of a robin, and built like one, but maybe a little 'skinnier'. It was slat grey in color. I didn't notice any other markings.
The other birds I'm seeing are grey or brown with a very noticeable white rump as they fly away from me. I usually see them on weeds near water. At first I thought that they were phoebes, but I'm not sure. There may be a white line on the bottom of their tail feathers.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Love, Jean

Morning Jean,
Sorry I was not on this weekend to answer your question.
#1 - The grey bird sounds Like a Grey Catbird to me and your description is pretty much in line.
#2 - I would venture a 100% correct guess that your other bird is a Kingbird and the white edging on the tail and being near water and they also frequent fields is a definite give away. The are charcoal in color and love to flutter around before landing.
So happy you are seeing such good birds.
Maggie
