Wegman's Honey Dijon Mustard

Post by MaggieRedwings »

Made a great rice pasta salad and payed for it big time. After eating it 3 days in a row and it being the only common demonimator for how I felt, I was sure that was the problem.

I used Wegman's Fat Free Honey Dijon Mustard dressing in it for a new taste. Did not read the bottle - STUPID ME!!!!. Had wheat and soy both in it.

And me the queen of label reading. So very dumb but was quick to figure the problem - Frank is finishing the pasta.

Maggie,

I know how you feel. Even after almost 4 years of diet, I still occasionally forget to read a label or else I make an assumption that turns out to be wrong. It's just part and parcel of this disease I guess! Glad you found the offender quickly.

Love,

Polly

P,S. I've only found one dijon mustard free of my triggers after reading the labels on many of them. Regular mustard is much safer in my experience.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

Oh, wow, Maggie. When I was on the GF diet, I did quite a lot of reading on mustard and I even bought a book on the subject. I LOVE mustard. I ended up buying mustard seeds and grinding them up and making my own mustard.

If you l ike the taste of mustard in things, buy the seeds, smash a few (a very few) and put the resulting mashings in your dish. That will perk it right up. The rest of mustard is mostly vinegar and other flavorings and who knows what they are.

Mustard powder is no good because it has a lot of stuff in it to keep it from caking.

I'm sorry.

Lots of love and Namaste,

Sally

PS Add a dash of honey and white wine to your pasta salad along with the mustard seeds the next time.

I've done the same thing multiple times, but I have a husband - I call my garbage can. He's a finicky eater and hates fish and seafood. I like fish with capers. Delish! Dorothy Rockwell Williams
