Dear Polly,

I just surf through these days, but noticed your post and send my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your Rusty. I know just what it's like to say goodbye to a beloved pet. I've done it several times and each time is just as hard as the last. May you find peace in happy memories.

Love,
Alice

Polly,

so sorry to hear about Rusty. My sister lost her 14 or 15 year old black lab about a year ago for similar reasons. Emma was good in spirit as her body failed too. Rusty is at peace and I'm sure appreciated all you did for him.

Polly,

These animals we keep who become members of our pack/family bring so much to our lives, their love and loyalty so strong which in some ways stronger than that of our own "kind" it cannot truely be measured or fully realized until their gone. I feel for you as you grieve his passing. I remember my own Dakota, after me being in the hospital and then coming home to recouperate, he sat by my side or with his head in my lap for literally hours at a time for several months, I believe I could feel him pulling me back to health at times. 14 years is a mighty fine life for a dog like Rusty, I'm sure you gave him a wonderful life and he repaid you tenfold. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Polly, I've been away for a while, but wanted to add my expressions of sorrow at the loss of Rusty! Most of us have had special animals in our life, and your loss brings tears to my eyes remembering mine......
