Hello - I am new here

Post by Celie »

Hi All,
I have recently been diagnosed with LC. I am learning how little is known about this condition. I wound up in the emergency room twice and in the hospital for 6 days with this stuff. Entocort works well but when we cut it back to 3 mg a day I relapsed. D 30 times a day. I look forward to learning about the things you do to control this condition. Thank you for your posts and I look forward to getting to know you!

Dear Celie

Welcome (from far away Hong Kong) to the family!!

You have obviously been reading here which is great.... it is the best place in the world to find out about MC and get support. I have tapered off entocort after just over a year on it. IMHO my GI wanted me off it far too quickly and thanks to the information on this board I resisted his advice and tapered down very slowly, 'listening' to my body (well actually my guts ) to determine when it might be safe to reduce.

And, of course, I went on the GF, DF, SF, EF, legume and nightshade free diet that seems to work for MC and which few doctors seem (yet) to believe in. (I have multiple food intolerance, if you are lucky you might only need to go GF and DF)

I believe PP and all it wonderful people lead by Tex has probably saved my life.

All the best in your journey to remission and again welcome, ant

:welcome: Celie, you have found the best place in the world for information and support. Read as much as you can on this site starting with the information for newbies. Also, check out www.enterolab.com

You may not believe it now, but as Tex says, you can get your life back.

Hi Celie,

Welcome aboard. You're right - this is still considered to be a "rare" disease, and while the GI specialists are doing much better at diagnosing it, in recent years, they still have quite a ways to go, to learn how to properly treat it. In the mean time, we share experiences here on what works, and what doesn't work, and we learn from each other.

The GI docs mostly consider this disease to be an "inconvenience". In reality, it's a debilitating, life-altering experience. In particular, we learn how to live with the disease, on a day to day basis, until we're able to achieve remission. This is one aspect of the disease that the medical community mostly overlooks, but it's vital information, if we are to carry on some semblance of a "normal" life, while dealing with the Draconian symptoms that the disease imposes upon us.

Again, welcome aboard, and rest assured that you can find the path that will allow you to regain control of your life.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

:welcome: Celie, for sure you have found the best place to learn how to manage your MC. Diet is key along with medication for a lot of us. If you can get tested with Enterolab, that will help you learn your main food intolerances. It takes time to read, learn, and process all the information here, but it will help you find your way to healing. Good luck, JoAnn
