Pamela's Gluten Free Products
Yesterday, I was sauntering the couple short isles in the health food section of our local grocery and found a new line of GF products- Pamela's Products. What a pleasant surprise it was!
I bought 4 brownie mixes which were on sale @ 1/2 price-2.50 each. Also got a box of pecan shortbread cookies which are SO good!
In the last year, the only cookies I've eaten were a bag of gingersnaps a couple months ago, some peanut butter cookies I made using a recipe Polly posted and now these. I forgot just how good a good cookies tastes- even without a glass of milk to dip it it. LOL
They also have added a line of power bars (forot the name) that are free of gluten and other things. Didn't buy any, at 1.69 each. Geez.
This encourages me seeing new GF products! It's about time we get with the GF program up here on the last frontier....hum, I think I'll have a chat with the store manager next time I shop. Might be fun.
Celebrating with cookies today- gonna be hard not to eat all 12 of them!

Hi Joanna,
Actually, you're probably doing better than a lot of us down here in the lower 48. I have to go to a HF store to find Pamela's cookies. They are pretty good for GF cookies, and several of the different types work for MIs, as they're free of most trigger ingredients. It seems to be the only brand that I can buy locally that works for me.
I especially like the Peanut Butter Cookies. I tried some that were ginger flavored, (I forget the exact name), but they were a bit too gingery for my taste. I just finished off my box of the shortbread cookies, but I have an eye exam scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully I can restock then.
Here's some gold stars, for being brave enough to start a new thread in this forum:
It's good to see you posting here.
Love,
Tex

Tex,
We have one pretty good size health food store in Anchorage called the natural pantry- about a 45 minute drive for me and I usually shop it when I have errands in town. I just called them and they carry Pamela's also- guess I just missed them. These cookies taste so good.
Thanks for the gold stars I just couldn't stand to think my favorite maytag repair man was feeling lonely....
I like this forum too

Yup, the peanut butter ones are my favorite. The Lemon Shortbread aren't too bad either. Don't think I've ever seen the brownie mix though. Will have to look in the future.
I'm baked out right now though...Made Geoff very glutenous blueberry muffins this evening, and myself a blueberry crisp/compote. Its still warm so I haven't eaten any (I prefer my berries cold...apple crisp is the only one I find better warm), but hopefully its good. I miss the muffins.

Katy,
Your making my mouth water....blueberry muffins and crisp sounds so good-I'd like mine hot with a dollop of vanila ice cream pleeeez?
Have stayed "steadfastly" away from deserts for what seems like an eternity is getting to be a drag. Recently have been feeling like I really NEED to treat myself with some new (and safe) taste treats.
I'll look for Pamelas peanut butter cookies- seem to be a favorite.

I had an eye exam this afternoon, and so while I was in town anyway, I went by the HF store and picked up some more Pamela's PB cookies, and noticed that they had a variety I hadn't seen before, so I picked some of them up also--Pecan Shortbread.

Hi Polly,
You're in luck. My vision is returning, so that I can read the label now.
Flour Base (Brown Rice Flour, White Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch Sweet Rice Flour, Xanthan Gum)
Salted Butter .......What? Cwap! I didn't see that in the store! That's the last time I go shopping while my pupils are dilated. Hahahahahahaha.
Never mind!

I must be in the minority in that any of the Pamela's GF cookies I have tried have always reacted very poorly with me. Finally gave up on even looking at them. Maybe I am just lucky in that I have absolutely no craving for sweets in general . Not just since going on the diet but long before. It’s hard to miss something that you don’t really want .
Feel free to eat my share, and more HaHaHaHaHa!

Matthew,
I'm trying to eat your share, but I'm not having much luck, lately.
Polly,
Now I'm wondering if it's in the Chocolate Swirl Shortcake, cause I ate some of those just before I got sick, yesterday morning. It looks like I'm never gonna learn to read labels correctly. At this rate, the new labeling law is not gonna do me much good. LOL.

Wayne
P S The eye problem is Drusen, and it doesn't seem to have changed significantly in the last 8 or 10 years

Pamela's shortbread cookies have settled fine with me, thank goodness. They taste great because I have been depriving myself of goodies like this for awhile. My husband and Lannie said they taste like---you know what. They did not like them.
Sorry to steer any of you MI, in the wrong direction. I know it does not take much to get you excited.....wish that was not so. I'm trying so hard to figure out my diet.
My sweet tooth is just acting up.
Love,
Joanna
