Japanese Bidet Toilets - Very Bottom Friendly

Post by hoosier1 »

All:

When I was in Japan last year I fell in love (sounds funny I know) with the electronic bidets all over Japan. These toilets were so "bottom friendly" that I purchased one as soon as I returned home.

The warm water bidet is so soothing to a sore bottom that experiences the "extra activity" that we all experience. "Modern" toilet tissue, I think, is a regressive step for mankind, especially for those with IBD or IBS.

Anyways, I ended up purchasing and installing just the bidet toilet seat. It saved me money over the entire toilet, and it works just the same. I had to run power to the toilet (GFCI receptacle) and modify the water line but that isn't a huge deal.

I can't describe how soothing it is during a colonoscopy prep. I used to dread those preps, but not any longer. I also miss my toilet when I travel. It is very therapeutic and far more hygienic than conventional potties.

Just an FYI.

Regards,

Rich

You know Rich when I thought I have heard it all along comes another one... The problem is this really is a good idea.

Out of curiosity where did you purchase it? I have another colonoscopy scheduled in 7 months.

Hi Joe,

I think I purchased it on Amazon. Was around $400 if memory serves. Brondell S550-EW is the model but there are many other brands and models. The brand you see everywhere in Japan is Toto. They seem to be much pricier. Happy with the one I got. If you get one, be sure to get one with heated water. I opted not to get the one with the air dryer as I can do that myself :). And if you can run a receptacle and intercept your toilet's water line, you are handy enough to install one of these. Could probably use an extension cord in a pinch but you really want a GFCI per the instructions.

Yeah Rich when we are talking about that area of the body GFCI is more than a necessity :newshocked: Fortunately handy I am.

Thanks Rich

Well I DO love a bidet as well ( the best thing about Europe for sure). I am not so lucky to have one, but I will be so bold  to explain my own personal version. I have a squeeze bottle- yup- it is soft plastic- I fill it with warm water and use it (while still sitting on the toilet- just lean back ) to flush where it feels good, after wiping. So much cleaner, and most certainly soothing. A 'cheap' version of a bidet. It works great though! :)

Rich,

Oh my, I am laughing so hard I can hardly breathe. I read this to
my husband and I can't even say what he was saying.... He just
can't believe that there are people here talking about such stuff.

I'm trying to find a video on how this bidet works...... Since this
model is different. OK, he just found one...

Is it worth the money, that's what I would like to know....

When I was in Brazil several years ago, I got a huge hemorrhoid. One of our hotel rooms had a bidet and it was very soothing.

Mia,
I like your improvision of a "cheap bidet." Sounds like a great idea!

Loved the video of the toilet on the waterfall. All it's missing is a potty person.

Seriously, it looks great. And it even dries you when it's done washing you. Saves paper, so it might qualify for a tax break...

And I'd just like to add, that not everybody is handy like Joe; besides Gloria appreciating a truly great idea, there are probably MULTITUDES of newbies trying out the plastic squeeze bottle right now.
