What about normal grocery store items?
Thank you all for your help on my previous posts, I'm all new to this gluten free thing and it's so overwhelming. I've looked at and bookmarked the links you all have sent for mail order gluten free products, but my question is....is there normal foods that are gluten free, I'm talking about foods such as mayonaise, ketchup, cheese, peanuts, and things like that, just typical grocery store type of foods that happen to be gluten free.
YES

It is very simple to find lots of gluten free food at any ordinary grocery anywhere.
Just buy only real food.
An apple is gluten free. Peaches, pears and bananas and berries are all gluten free. Pork chicken beef and fish are gluten free if they have not been injected with other things. One must just buy as natural meat and fish as one can afford to be safe. Free range or grass fed is even better. Broccoli, sweet potatoes, winter squash, carrots, zucchini, cauliflower, kale, lettuce, leeks onions and winter squash are all gluten free only to name a few. Eggs are gluten free. Most spices are gluten free but it is best to read the label. Things like fruit juice are gluten free but high Fructose corn syrup can get into anything and has been a problem for many of us.
Any packaged food with a long list of ingredients that a five-year old let alone and adult can not pronounce might be best left on the grocery store shelf.
A gluten free diet with these things in mind need not be expensive and is still very healthy. And you can have a lot of fun putting them together in your kitchen in new ways for many tasty meals.
You might look at this list of Paleo Staples that Johanna (Harvest Table) posted some years ago for inspiration.
