Polly, I just noticed my energy is back

Post by Jean »

Yep,

I just realized today that I have the energy I did long ago. I've been getting things done around the house and everything. I don't want to lay on the couch like I used to (like I could, anyway).

I'm trying to remember how long I've been gluten free. It was September, just don't know what year...I'll have to go back to the old board and look. So, I guess the memories not back yet, LOL

I also think I've lost the rest of the MC weight I gained, it seems like every man over 60 is hitting on me at the golf course!

Hi Jean,

Great to hear that the old you is coming back and watch out for those golfers - unless you get a tall, young, handsome one.

All riiiiiiiight, Jean!

Yep, the energy is the last to return - often years after Norman does! And I had the same experience you did. It improves gradually until one day you suddenly have a eureka moment and realize that full energy has returned. It truly is unbelievable, isn't it? I have the energy now that I had in my 20s. Congrats on your full recovery. And ENJOY!

Love,

Polly

Hi, Jean, I am VERY glad that your energy is back.

As for golfers, I have noticed that around here they tend to be old, fat, wear baggy shorts of all colors, and have poor eyesight. They keep hitting my house with their balls. Otherwise, they are the twelve-year old grandsons who hate what they are being made to do. I know, I talked to one once. We were out in the shrubbery together. He had followed his grandfather's example and hit my bushes.

Hahahahahaha!!!!

Sally,

So what you're saying is that the golfers are hitting on me because of their bad eyesight!?! LOL I'm flattered when they actually have all of their teeth.

I got a horn honk and a wolf whistle today. I didn't think people did that anymore, especially because it was the owner's weird nephew. What an idiot to do that to an employee!

Polly,

Yes, it is wonderful to realize that I have so much energy now. I guess I'm running out of excuses for not cleaning the house. I believe that this September will be 3 years GF.

Sally,

I really was kidding! I think it might be their bad eyesight.

Jean,

I think it is your winning smile and beautiful hair - your body probably doesn't look "half bad" either; maybe it is the whole package :butterfly:

I am happy for you about the energy level and I feel for you now that you've run out of excuses for not doing the house hold chores  I can think of many things I would rather do than cleaning and straightening up the house so I am with you. I am looking forward to experiencing higher levels of energy in the next few years - I've been GF for only one year now so it should improve, right?! I already feel so much better in the energy department than just 1/2 year ago. Hip Hip Hooray for the GF diet

Jean and all -

I have been GF for just over two years and trigger free for perhaps a year and a quarter. After a couple of months GF I woke up one morning to realize that the brain fog that I had never really been aware of had lifted, it was like the sun had suddenly come out from behind the clouds. I have never had quite such a revelation with energy levels since it is a much more subtle thing but on a regular basis I realize how my energy and sense of well being gets better and better even two years later. My vision is better, my teeth are better, many aches and pains are a thing of the past and best of all I look forward to the future. A friend my same age came by last weekend and after reciting a long litany of complaints said getting old is hell. Well, I must say that getting old GF is better than the alternative. I really feel that the damage that gluten was doing must have crept up for a long, long time, never with enough symptoms for me to recognize, until it finally went over the edge to MC and the MIs that I now have. With 20/20 hindsight I might have had a few clues but find the greatest joy in discovering it when I did. I must say that at this point I am not waiting for the other shoe to drop but enjoy the moment . Yes, it takes time to heal and some work to eat. I prefer to think of it as attention.

I am not that far down the path ahead of you as far as time goes but must say IMHO it just gets better. Keep at it . It is worth every bit of your attention .

To your continued healing.

Hi Matthew,

I know talking to your friend and listening to all his complaints and the conclusion he made that getting old is Hell really put your own situation into perspective. You have come a long way. I liked your description of how the brain fog lifted and you saw the sun coming out from behind a cloud (metaphorically). You had forgotten how joy feels, hadn't you?
I remember when I was in my early twenties I was quite a mess in many ways as a person and I was smoking weed on a regular basis. I was so depressed and confused and finally mentioned to my doctor when I saw him for some other reasons that I wasn't feeling right. He asked me if I was smoking weed - of course, I am a good girl so I didn't lie to him. He said I should stop doing that and I would probably start to feel a lot better. (I don't remember the exact words that were used). It made me angry that he thought such a simple thing would be the solution to such profound problems as mine. As the days went by I thought I would give it a try - quitting the weed. And after having been weed free for a few weeks I remember standing in a packed city bus and all of a sudden feeling real joy - it was exactly like a cloud lifted and the sun finally shun again. It was like a promise that I would get my life back.

Matthew, I think it is the depression that lifts or loosens it's grip.

You've always been an inspiration to me since I started the GF path - I consider you a valuable friend and I am very happy to hear how optimistic you are and how well you feel. Perhaps you will drop the other shoe too?

Love,
Karen
