Net was down, Big storm and Airplane crash

Post by Wendy »

I am having the worst luck this year with my laptops. I am not sure if my brother can fix this one, but I find it so much easier for me to use then sitting here at the desk. Anyhow, we had a huge storm here yesterday. It did not bring down the heat though, rather it is more like walking out into a sauna. Now someone with my body temp problem, (its a nice way of referring to my profuse body sweating, pre weight gain, something that keeps me out of the public as much as possible in the summer without the humidity) it is just too much too bare. I am also still running a low grade temperature, so I just can't handle going outside for very long. The storm yesterday was pretty loud, lots of lighting and thunder. Had Pebbles staying pretty close to her momma. So, even though I live very close to the airport, I did not hear the explosion of the Air France when it went down. It is said to be the biggest miracle yet when it comes to plane crashes. They had all the people out in a minute and a half, even the ones who were injured in the initail crash. Since it was maybe just a thousand yards from the 401 highway(major) passengers made their way to the highway and were waving cars down. One woman called her husband on her cell phone as soon as she could. Lots of hero's too, one man and some others who happened to be passing by rushed to the airplane and helped get the people to safety. He said that they just made a chain and were passing children and people one to another, then he went into the plane and made a check that no one was missed. They said it was amazing that they all made it out alive. There will be some post traumatic trauma for sure. They think that the heavy storm had something to do with it, maybe some human error because of the storm too. The airport had been on red alert all day because of it, so have to wait and see. They closed the airport down completely, since they do not know for sure why it crashed and so forth. With all the terrorist attacks now a days, they do not take any chances, so they shut it down. They still only have limited service, and from what I have seen they are pretty backed up. One year when we were flying home from Mexico, which had been delayed a day because of a heavy ice storm here in Toronto, flights were a day behind, and it was pretty crazy. We thought giving ourselves 2 1/2 hours would still be plenty of time, but we ended up standing in line that whole time. Our friends got through, and they had to radio ahead that we were on our way. Ended up running to the plane, they closed the doors and we were off. It was a great adrenaline high! But it sucks big time when you have long delays and need to get home.

Anyway, when the storm hit here, I lost my internet service. Who knows? I was too lazy to do the check, and reset everything anyway. I am still really dragging my butt. Wait, thats my life!!! Poor Pebbles hasn't been for a walk for a while and I think she just doesn't understand that it is too hot, and mommy is no well. Since I have been home feeding her she has put on weight, so I have to get her out walking again.

I kitty sat for Mel and Beth's on Monday, and that little guy is to die for. He looks like a big ball of fluff when he is curled up. He is just the cuddliest little guy, he is only a couple of pounds and the rest is all hair. But he loves to cuddle up to you all the time. Pebbles is not too sure of having HIM in her domain though? She is fine going somewhere else and him being there, but she has her nose out of joint when he is in her house. And she really wasn't too sure about what he was doing in that little thing that looks like a kennel, she just knew it smelled. Ha ha ha
She does not like me taking pictures of Navaro either, I couldn't believe it when but she kept coming over to me and putting her paw on my leg, as if to say, hey take a picture of me too???

Animals are so much fun.

Hi Wendy,

The crash up there has been big news all over the USA as well. It is truely amazing that everyone survived.

I really hate to schedule flights during these hot months of the year, because the weather is sooo unpredictable. Last time I flew was to Albuq.,N.Mex. back in the 90's, and that was in June, but had no choice that time. The flight only encountered a little turbulence as I remember.

Heard the weather man here in Houston tonight say that there were some 94,000 lightning strikes this evening, and I could hear rumbling in the distance most all evening from here, but we didn't get any of it this time.

Think they use some kind of fancy technology to count all those strikes, but isn't that an awful lot?! I just pray that none strikes the house -- the tornado was enough to last us a while!!!

Yep, when one airport's shut down, that backs up air traffic all over the place. Sure hope the cause is found soon.

I understand that it was pouring rain when all those people evacuated the plane. One man I heard interviewed said that he had fuel all over him, so don't you know he felt fortunate to get out without catching fire!!

Yours, Luce

I think that would be the time that you would be really happy that it was raining outside, I hadn't heard about that man being covered in gasoline. By the looks of the plane after, I just can't imagine that all of them survived. Horrific.

We are supposed to get more rain tonight, not sure how bad. But it is sooo humid outside right now that it really feels like a sauna. It just hits you when you walk outside. Of course, here there is the smog too, which gets worse in this kind of weather. I am sure Pebbles is so bored, I know she wants to go for a walk but I have been playing dumb. The last time I tried to take her for a walk she didn't even make it down the block when she wanted to lay down, I ended up carrying her home. They say we are not going to get much relief anywhere in the near future either.

Hugs
