Tornado damage here

Our damage was worse than I thought, but so far, only see tree and powerline damage and a gate that no longer opens.

One big pine snapped in two, and one big, tall oak is only half it's former size. Both look pathetic as besides the huge limbs that were downed, there are so many of the big limbs just dangling from high up that will have to be brought down by professional tree trimmers.

I went down to check on an older neighbor lady who's got pretty bad arthritis, plus it was too hot for her to be out dragging heavy limbs to the curb from her back yard which was a mess! Told me that her husband had just been finally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, so was already depressed about that.

Sooo, called my bil down from our house, who'd been taking pictures, and we started cleaning up her back yard, then a man on the other side of her began helping, then her son, dil, and daughter showed up, and when we were almost finished, the nice neighbor guy from behind came to see if he could help with some of his trees that had blown over that fence.

When we left, it looked LOTS better than the way we'd found it!

You should see all the debre that's on the curb NOW, and haven't even begun to get the big tree out of the back yard, nor the trees that came over our back fence.

Power company will have to come replace the pole over here, and across the street, their lights are still out. Said it'd be a few days, at least, before they could get everything done.

Welp, I'm sad for our trees, but glad no one was hurt, and that the only property damage was to the roof across the street. They got it covered with plastic fairly quickly, so should prevent any further rain water from getting inside.

I now have way to much nervous energy, so better put it to good use.

I, too, am soooo glad no-one was hurt! Good on you and the gang for helping out neighbours. I hope that thunder is just left over rumbles.

So glad you weren't hurt or had severe property damage. It's rained here today with thunder most of the afternoon. Sun keeps peeking through to let us know it's still there though!

Gotta get Tex to add one - or is that a job for Xet? Oh well! Either way will do!

Wow, Luce, I'm sorry it was worse than you originally thought but like you, the important thing is - nobody was injured. When you think of what could have happened I know you feel fortunate. Bless all of you for helping out the elderly couple.

I hope the various insurance companies involved will treat everyone fairly.

Oh, my gosh, Lucy

You've been hit by a tornado. It is one of my worst fears and my son Noah sometimes comes into our bedroom to tell us he can't sleep because he is scared we are going to have a tornado (you know, when he has heard a weather report that announces storms and tornado watch or warnings). I've see programs on etv about the tornado chasers - people who want to get as close as possible to the big ones so they can study them, and for the thrill.

I am so glad you are OK and that everyone around you are too. I am sorry about your neighbors pancreatic cancer - I hope they caught it early and it is a treatable kind. I am a little worried about you and your leg tumor. Did I miss a thread about that? You seem to think you KNOW that you don't have one, right

Hope everything goes alright tomorrow. Sorry to hear about the hurrican.
Glad your family is safe. I sure do remember the storms in Houston, and the floods. It's a little calmer her in Austin.

Take care and try not to do all of the clean up yourself.
