Coffee May Protect Against Brain Cancer
Hi All,
Coffee is looking more and more like some sort of magic elixir. Now it appears that in addition to lower odds of developing Alzheimer's and/or Parkinson's disease, coffee drinkers have a lower risk of developing certain types of brain cancer, also.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Rich,
The reason why GI doctors advise against the use of coffee by people with MC, is because coffee is a secretagogue, which implies that it is capable of causing secretory D, and it does, indeed, for many people. Their first morning cup of coffee is promptly followed by a trip to the bathroom. Not everyone is affected that way, though, and the fact of the matter is, if this is the way that we reacted to coffee before MC, then we will respond in the same way, after the development of MC. If it didn't cause a mad dash to the John prior to MC, then it won't trigger that response after MC. IOW, most of us can't tell any difference, just because we developed MC - coffee affects us the same as it always has.

I think I am going to stay away from coffee based upon this, Tex. A moment of weakness caused me to grab a cup. I didn't notice any ill effects so perhaps I can handle it. But I really don't want to "challenge" my progress, as inconsistent as it has been.
