Hi Lisa and Welcome to our support group,

I was diagnosed last summer around the same time - it's a year ago now. I have received more help and support than I ever dreamed possible or imagined when I joined last summer; not to mention the friendships. You will be able to find many answers to your questions here and a lot of help in the days to come - just keep asking, OK?!??!

I was devastated when I learned that MC is considered a chronic disease - I felt much too young to be chronically ill. However, due to a number of changes in my diet and lifestyle I have been in remission since the beginning of March 2005. We learn from each other here - what works and what doesn't work. I've learned everything from these folks and I don't need to see my doctor for the MC anymore - I haven't seen him since the diagnosis last summer and I feel very good about that. Knowing that so many of the members of this family have gained control over their disease/symptoms makes me believe that you will too. We will be right here to help you along.

Love,
Karen

Welcome lsl,

Like several have said, be sure to read through the site. This thread just reminded me that I've not put my own story in the appropriate area, so hopefully, I'll be able to do that fairly soon. I wish my medical history/profile were short, but unfortunately, it's not! The good news about that is that now I'm asymptomatic, and have been for some time, thanks to the wonderful information, support and advise I received from the wonderful people right here on this site.

I've found that my gut doesn't respond to stress now that I've found what keeps me asymptomatic with the M.C. Sooo...as others have said, there is hope, but you must study, ask questions as you're reading, and above all, be patient as you work toward getting better.

So sad about your pet. I am so sorry!

Yours, Luce

Welcome to our humble abode!

I am sorry about your cat. Our pets are part of our family and huge deal when we lose one. My heart goes out to you!

I am glad you found us and we are here to help.

Hugs,

Lori

Hello, from me, too, Isl. Just wanted to let you know that there are a lot of hardcore animal lovers on this site (like me!) who can truly relate to the severe grief we experience when we lose a pet, so feel free to come here to vent and gain comfort in that area, too, or ANY area of your life you want to share with us. We're probably the warmest, most accepting, non-judgmental people you'll ever meet, if I do say so myself!

Diagnosed November 2004, Used Asacol and Lialda, sometimes worked, sometimes made it worse. Entocort always works but hate it. Remission only lasts 3-6 months and then back on Entocort. Enterolab test July 2017, now gluten free. Time will tell!
