Fecal Stream Diversion Eliminates the Symptoms of CC

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Wayne,

This is very interesting, but exactly what is a "noxious luminal factor" referring to? Is it a broad category or something very specific?

Thanks!

Hi Alice,

That term refers to an undefined component, presumably a toxic element in the contents of the lumen, rather than in the walls of the colon, itself. As far as I'm aware, no one has ever demonstrated what it might actually be, but I think it's often assumed to be a chemical byproduct of either an autoimmune reaction, or the flora and fauna in the gut. I'm sure it's defined so vaguely, because no one has the foggiest idea what it actually is.

Note that the article was written 10 years ago, but I haven't seen anything more about it, since.
