If you are interested, fill out the survey.

The current standard in the U. S. and Canada for gluten-free labeling, is zero gluten.

Here is some information on the current standards:

Thanks Wayne,

This is the last thing I did before vacation and thought it most important to do so.

I sent mine in. Thanks
Although I am not eating gluten free, I pretended I was to support all those who MUST be GF.

I did this, too. I pretended to be someone on the GF diet and was very strict with my answers. O% gluten. What is the problem?

Thats how I answered too, Sally. Gets way too confusing otherwise. How the heck is anyone going to remember what level they react to, and whether this level works for them.

Hoping for 0%. Heck there are enough substitutes for gluten out there that just make my food GF!

I told them that if they wanted to label "reduced-gluten" products, they should call them "reduced-gluten" products, not gluten-free. 100ppm of gluten is a long way from gluten-free.

Thanks to all of you nongluten avoiders!!! It sure helps.

I, too, answered 0% as I think I react to a molecule (they'll probably think I'm nuts). I also mentioned that I'd love to see corn labeled too.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Wayne.

Luce sent that to me late last night. Rats, I didn't think about mentioning corn whwn I took the survey last night.

You know, it's no wonder we sometimes have problems reading labels, when the people who write the labeling rules, don't even understand the meaning of some of the simplest words. Sigh.

Done! Thanks for the opportunity. I mentioned corn and other intolerances too.

Yep, think I mentioned the citric acid source, corn, and to make em list barley, oats, and rye right there along with the big 8 allergens, but I was sooo sleepy last night -- no tellin' WHAT I wrote!

Sorry I wasn't a little earlier getting it sent to Wayne, but I just got the link yesterday myself, and sent the e-mail it came in straight to Wayne before I'd even read it. I didn't know it was due TODAY til I read his post, so good for you, Wayne, for posting it as something to do right away or I'd have probably been late.

Lets hope many folks responded, and that they'll "get it."
Realisticly, I'm not sure they can really get it down to zip, but at least maybe this will get em to make a best shot at it. Maybe they'll come up with a system to just LIST the ppm like they list calories right in the little box.

Think this all gets back to the avoidance of processed foods again, doesn't it? To me, the real danger lies in eating minute amounts in a number of these foods every day, thus the concern over eating processed foods, particularly if they can't be processed without being completely free of gluten. This is because even if one is asymptomatic at the minute gluten level, there can still be ongoing damage, and for celiacs, a risk of lymphoma, for example. This is nothing to play around with!

Thanks!!!
Yours, Luce
