First Food Allergy Guidelines Issued By NIAID

Post by tex »

December 6, 2010 — The first food allergy guidelines were issued today by the National Institutes of Health's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

According to the new guidelines, avoiding the ingestion of specific allergens is the main strategy suggested for managing food allergies, and no medications are currently recommended.
Well Duh! Was that a brilliant recommendation, or what? I wonder how many millions of dollars were wasted to come up with that recommendation. (The red emphasis was mine, of course).

This makes me think about how the attitude of many seems to be that they should be able to do and or consume whatever they want without consequences to their health, finances, loved ones, etc. Health-wise, it seems that many want a pill to fix whatever is going on with them, when a little self-discipline may be all they need to live a happier, healthier life.
