Newly Diagnosed and Aggravated
Hi there, everybody! I'm Jane, I'm a newbie to the forums and I was recently diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis. Very obviously, I realized that there was a problem when I was experiencing agonizing stomach cramps and bouts of diarrhea. My bowel movements (for the past few months) were never normal and it caused me to become horribly, horrible dehydrated. I think the point when I passed out from dehydration was when I finally decided to go to a specialist. After being diagnosed, a wave of relief passed over me, but the labeling didn't put me at ease either. I found myself wondering what I was going to do with the rest of my life. How would I treat this? Will I be able to live my life fully?
I still have a tremendous number of questions, but I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I can't wait to dive into the conversation and speak with all of you. Take care, everyone! Hope you're having a wonderful Holiday! <3

Using an Alert 1 alarm isn't in my plan, but I'm not ashamed to use it if I need it.

Welcome Jane. There is a lot of good information all over this site. I hope you take some time to explore. Although we are all different in how we have gotten our disease under control we are willing to share suggestions. I wish a very wonderful holiday season and a Merry Christmas.

Jane, to our internet family!! I am new to all this, too. I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis in September, and have been gluten-free since late September. Most of us have discovered that going gluten-free is how best to live our lives fully with this puzzling and frustrating disease. I'm on my desktop instead of my netbook, so I can see a plethora of emoticons to use, but I will restrain myself. Sort of.
Welcome again, and have a Merry Christmas!!

This is a great place to find encouragement, get ideas of what has worked for other people, and ask questions. I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis in March, and was immediately put on Entorcort. Several months later, after I was off the Entocort, I found this forum, and went gluten-free in October. Now I've found out from the Enterolab testing that I am also sensitive to dairy and soy. I plan to tackle that overhaul to my diet after Christmas.
I'm glad you found the forum.
Merry Christmas!

Gday from australia Jane
welcome to the group which is more like a family, it is the place you can ask about aa-nn-yy thing (gas, poop etc)
Having the diagnosis is a great step, gaining understanding of this disease which is like a cheeky monkey is another thing, we all have different triggers, and even different symptoms and reactions, and treatment wise what works for one may not work for another so my motto is there is no right way or wrong way there is your way.. and stick to what works for you.
good luck and best wishes on the road to wellness
take care

Welcome Jane,
This is a great forum and really it is a family. I felt that same as you did when I was diagnosed 10+ years ago - relief that it had a name. Please do dig around on the site and feel free to ask any questions - one of us has sure to been there or done that.
Happy New Year and it will be one of change and hopefully, well being.
