Bone density test

Post by JJ »

Hi...I have a bone density scan tomorrow. My PC and GI decided it would be good to have it since I am on Entocort. What is it like????? An x-ray???

Should I be nervous? I guess I am always afraid of the unknown. JJ :ill:

Morning Jill,

Here is an explanation of the preferred method used for the measurement of Bone Measurement Density, (BMD), (scroll down to the third topic, "How is BMD measured?":

Here is an explanation of other methods:

I don't believe there's any reason to be nervous.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Jill,

I had the test (DXA) in 2004. Nothing to it. Nothing to worry about at all. No pain, no discomfort.

Piece of cake...I even got to keep my clothes on  ....the little machine made a few swipes over my mid section and that was it! Thanks for the support...the results will be sent to my doc in a week or so.
