Thank you for the hugs, the love and the messages, it means alot to have my PP family there.
I am fine, i am safe and dry.
We had rain and thunderstorms most of the day, this morning it is windy with a few showers here and there.
my new workplace colleagues and bosses have been fantastic making sure that i am ok, TK trekked through the dodgy roads and rain yesterday and came to make sure i was ok (and that I was not just saying i was ok) he lives about 20 mins away
my old work colleagues, friends in brisbane and some friends that are interstate, rang, texted and emailed me to check i was ok and close friends were worried if I had enough 'gabes food supplies'
Yesterday part of my unsettlement stemmed from the fact that in the 3 weeks i was doing trips up here with the move, i did about 6 or 7 trips, driving in heavy rain some days, on the exact roads where people were swept away in the cars and some of them died.
On the monday this happened, from 12.15 to 13.15 i was with my new bosses and team members having lunch (well i had a coffee as there was not really anything i could eat) we left that cafe at 13.15, it was a block away from where the chaos occured about 15 - 20 minutes later, and given the topography of that area had we not left when we did, then we could have been part of the fringe of the chaos and stuck in that area due to the water flow down the hills.
to then get home and have minimal issues but to see someone who lives 3 metres away have major issues, I was struggling to accept that i was somehow protected
I am certain it is my dad who is my guardian angel that keeps me safe
i have stopped watching the news as I am quite unsettled for the familly and friends of the people who are missing, there are about 20 of the 70 or so missing people they presume are dead in their cars or in their houses. the rain and wind weather conditions we had on Tuesday did not allow rescuers into the area to confirm this.
For the two big cities that are down river being Brisbane (where i used to live) and Ipswich that are about to be flooded, they have had 24 hours or more to plan, prepare and communicate to protect the people.
I rested alot yesterday and feeling much better MC wise, I will go to work today and distract my mind with some contracts.
Thanks again for the support, care and concern and the prayers for me and others affected by this, it means alot
To know that my PP family is there, I can vent my thoughts and emotions with trusted friends means alot to me, given that my own 'blood family' has not contacted me.

Gabes,
Thanks so much for the update Please be careful on those washed-out roads.
I hope you see a lot of sunshine very soon.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Good news Gabes! Glad your MC is cooperating during this difficult time. I am sure it will take quite some time for your town to clean up and bounce back but in time things will return to normal. Prayers go out to the families of the missing people - so sad.

Dear Gabes,
I saw new video on the news tonight and was glad when I checked here and saw that again you were okay. All of Oz is in my prayers. There will be lots of cleanup to do when this rainy season ends.
Glad to hear that TK actually came to see you.

quick note
benefit of being Gluten Free and dairy free.......
Toowoomba has no bread or bread mix left, stocks of flour are starting to run low, there is no milk or longlife milk or condensed milk left in the shops...
I filled up my car today with petrol so will be fine for 2 weeks....

Gabes, I am very sorry your "blood family" has not contacted you, but glad that we can be your family, cyber though we may be.
All the best... I will be praying for the families and friends of those lost, and you, too.

They say that milk and toilet paper are the first items to be depleted from store shelves during a crisis - water if the local source is contaminated. I guess we luck out on one of the items, but not the other two.
This sounds like a harrowing experience, Gabes. I'm glad TK is nearby. I hope it ends soon and you are able to get back to normal. The pictures and videos I've seen are shocking.

HI Gabes,
So happy to see a post from you as I was getting very worried as well as most here. Thank heavens you are OK and your upbeat attitude will get you through. Isn't it great being dairy & Gluten free when the run on the stores come?
Take care and be safe.
Love, Maggie

that is exactly the case - the supermarkets ran out of toilet paper.
some people at work had to borrow some from our work place stocks!
again - i think my guardian angel looked after me, a month before I moved the supermarket had a 24 roll pack on special, at the time i remember thinking this is overkill it will take me months to use that, but as it as my preferred brand i bought it.. i still have at least another 2 months supply.
