I was thinking about you. Water in your home.... Such a helpless feeling. Having experienced basement flooding, I can understand how scary that is. Since I am never home, and having flooded once before, I actually put 3 sump pumps in my pit as backup. Don't want to do through that ever again, and two of them are powered by a huge battery backup system I designed.

i am ok, few minor MC symptoms from the ups and downs of the week.
the week (?month) events caught up with me yesterday, the thing that broke the camels back type thing.
Aside from there are people still missing, one deceased person was found over 80km (50 miles) from their house that was uprooted in the Tusamni type wave of water.
Of all the fruit and veges that exist in this world, so far there are only 4 - 5 vegetables that i can tolerate, due to the floods 3 of these have disappeared off the shelves, some of the local farms that grow them have been destroyed, and other farms that grown them in the southern states, the trucks are cut off by flood waters.
They are still struggling to get supplies into the affected towns, where i am only yesterday did the fuel trucks make it in, most of the service stations had run out of fuel on Wednesday.
I spent considerable time driving from shop to shop to see if anyone had stocks left. i broke down, then felt angry with myself that i was upset by not finding my food, when i had a dry bed, dry house, and all my clothes and possessions which is alot more compared to others.
I think the MC component is the vulnerable link. I was doing ok until there was a drastic impact and risk to how i manage the MC.

Oh my gosh, I just don't know what to say except it's good to hear you are safe and okay. Also hope you have enough of your other safe commodities at your home to manage for as long as you need to. I know what you mean about the MC thing, I have a bottle of Entocort for an emergency like that.
In regards to transportation, food supplies, fresh water and such is the situation improving or do you expect it to get worse than it is now?

I hope that you are still Ok. It has been a terrible tragedy, almost unbelievable. We were cut off for a few days but Ok even with the king tides.
Our Nephew lives on the Beachmere road & the water was about 3 feet up there & he had to get out. He & his family are staying with his brother. I have never seen the water up so high in that area before. Caboolture & Morayfield were in a bad way.
We had an emergency phone call to go immediately to higher ground which was impossible as there is no high ground in our town & we couldn't get out if we wanted to.

Thousands of people are going to the areas which were, or still are, under water to help. The response to calls for help & the generosity of people is wonderful to see.
They have turned up in their thousands with shovels, brooms, buckets, gurneys, end loaders, anything that would be of use to clear the mess.
NSW, Victoria & Tasmania are having problems with flooding. It looks as though 2011 will be a year to remember. It is going to take a very long time, even years for some people to recover from this.

Thank you for the update. It's definitely good to hear that you and Robert came through OK.

I know what you mean about supplies. When I see temporary catering set up in emergence centres I wonder how people with MC cope: sandwiches...... biscuits...... hot bread rolls..... thick soup..... pizzas........ apples..... etc. what could we eat?
We certainly need to have an emergency supply of safe foods (and, as Joanna says, medications) readily at hand.
