serious roid rage

Post by crystal552000 »

I have been full dose 9mg a day on entocrt. Here lately I spend most of my days feeling just awful not physically but mentally. I am very easily agitated and very short with my kids and husband because of it. Somedays I feel like I am just going to lose it. I don't know where to go from here but this effecting my relationships that I hold dear. Any ideas of how to deal with this

It may be the Entocort. Some people become somewhat hyper while using it, though it usually doesn't make them "mean". If "roids" actually are a problem, (it's a common problem with MC), then hopefully you can find some relief in this thread:

If you want to continue taking the Entocort, and you feel that it might be cause of your issues, then you might consider asking your doctor for a prescription for something to ease the tension, anxiety, or whatever is contributing to your state of increased agitation. This disease tends to contribute to issues of that sort, and quite a few members find that anti-anxiety meds, or anti-depressants, etc., are beneficial.

I feel the same way and have recently purchased a book someone was talking about a couple of days ago called "Relaxation Revolution" by Herbert Benson. I find the 9mg a day of Entocort makes me a crabby energizer bunny and my symptoms are just barely under control so I thought I'd try a mind/body thing. Meditation is supposed to be a healing thing, so I'm going to give it a go because the meds aren't cutting it.

Is it possible you lower the dosage? Would you stay in remission with two pills a day? Do you take the three pills at once in morning just before breakfast or do you spread them during the day. What you are writing about I wouldn't be surprized it are side effect of entocort. I have been exactly two days on two pills a day and it was awful. Like you are describing. On the third day I lowered it to one pill a day and the side effect were gone and it was enough to keep the D under control

If you take all your pills at once, it could be worth trying out spreading them during the day, or lower the dosage from 3 to 2 a day or a combination of both. The (only) two days I experienced the entocort side effect, I discovered that, after 8 hours I felt "normal" again.

I have been unsuccessful at lowering my dose, my doctors have tried but everytime i go down to two a day i start to flare. I do take all three of them at night before bed, however i used to take them in the morning but I had to change because I wasn't able to sleep at night doing that. Maybe I should try to take it three times a day and hopefully that will help
