Thank you all! I actually had a good birthday, the first in a few years. We now crowd five birthdays and two anniversaries in along with all the other festivities between Nov. 15th and Feb. 1, so by the time we get to my birthday (the third birthday in a week) generally all we feel is relieved, lol.

I had five people call me for my birthday, and had 54 people send me sweet birthday wishes on Facebook. It really touched me that so many people would think enough of me to recognize my birthday.

Possibly the best thing about it is that all last year I kept thinking I was 54, so now that I really am I feel like I have a second chance to get it right. I am filled with a wonderful sense of anticipation that this is going to be a really good year.

Tonight there is a class that one of my girls goes to, and I have to teach, but it is the last time I will be teaching the class this year (yay!). A GF friend whose children also go there is making me a GF cake for a birthday celebration afterwards, so the party continues!

Happy belated birthday Marliss - glad that your celebration is continuing and truly hope your premonition of a great year ahead comes true!!! I smiled when I saw you added a year to your age - it's something I seem to do routinely ........

Ya, I often do that too.. say I am one year older than I actually am. I thought I was the only one! Funny that we do that but it is kind of neat to gain a year. Except that I am now one year further away from retiring than I thought I was :???:

Now I simply have to tell a story apropos your retirement conundrum  . When working in NYC I had a good friend who immigrated to the U.S. from Romania. She told me that they had the chance to "adjust" their age on their papers when they left Romania, so some of her girlfriends subtracted 10 years from their age to seem younger. That sure backfired big time when they had to work an extra 10 years before retiring. I always sort of doubted that story, but she swore it was true !!!

Ha! Now that would be terrible... one year longer is bad enough! My very best friend immigrated from Romania, too. I think she said that the retirement age there is 50 for women (maybe longer for men.. I forget....must be that extra year ... )
