Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Reviews

Post by MBombardier »

I looked around because I didn't want to be duplicating information, but I didn't see any posts about this. I apologize if I am duplicating information.

http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

It has listed just about everything anyone would ever want to put on or in one's body for cosmetic purposes and all the ingredients. I noticed that the database does not list soy as hazardous. I thought it was interesting that lanolin is listed as an allergen, however.

If you plug "gluten" into the search, it comes up with 702 products that contain hydrolyzed wheat protein, and a whole bunch more that contain triticum vulgare. Corn and maize products come up with this search as well. I think it would be a good tool for someone looking for new product(s) that don't contain their particular irritants.

I ran across this as I was researching making my own lip balm and hand lotion. It is recommended by the woman who has this website: http://www.hardlotion.com. Yes, that is "hard" lotion, not "hand" lotion in the URL. She not only sells lotion, moisturizer, and lip balm made with only beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil, but teaches how to do it so people can make their own.

If you decide you want to make your own, you can get almost everything you need (including containers, pipettes, etc.) here: http://www.mountainroseherbs.com The prices are very reasonable, so I will be ordering stuff and doing that for my family and myself shortly.

Thank You for this link, I found it extremely helpful in my search for safe products. I like how simple the grading system is:
