dl alpha tocopheryl acetate
I have heard that dl alpha tocopheryl acetate is not from soy. Is this true? It's in the Helmann's Canola mayo that I have and I've been wondering.

Yes, that's an all-synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol. An alternative natural form of stable vitamin E is d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate, which is derived from vegetable oils, (think soy).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

If you Google Vitamin E with no soy, several options come up.
The artificial form of Vitamin E is actually not good for you. Dr. Mercola says, "Some researchers have questioned whether special configurations of tocopherol found only in synthetic vitamin E are actually a hindrance to the body because they tie up receptor sites, stopping the naturally occurring form of vitamin E from acting. This is like someone putting the wrong key into a lock. The right key cannot open the lock if the wrong key is in it."
I discovered my natural Vitamin E supplement is one of the unsuspected sources of soy in my diet, so I am going to buy a soy-free formula. And ubiquinol--I've found a soy-free formulation of that, too. Little by little, I will weed that stubborn stuff out of my life.
