Stress
Hi everyone,I am so stressed today and boy does it make the pain worse.Im so tired. I just need to relax.Got to figure out what I can eat.Man sometimes its just to much. Sorry for ranting just needed to let off steam.
hoping you feel better soon
Hi Granny,
I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad. I hope things turn around very soon. Don't worry about sharing how you feel, this board is a place to reach out to folks who understand. MC can be a frustrating and stressful condition.
I haven't seen what kind of medicine you are taking but I hope it starts to give you some relief before much longer. There will be better days ahead. Please stay in touch.

I've never been in favor of prescribing two meds together, for treating MC, because many members have adverse reactions to one or the other, and when that happens, it's virtually impossible to tell which one is the problem, and according to the laws of probability and statistics, taking two drugs at the same time virtually quadruples the odds that you will have an adverse reaction. Besides, if one drug works, you don't need the other, so why take two? That just ups the chances of treatment complications.
I'm sure your doctor assumed that it was a good idea, thinking that when he weans you off the pred, you will already be stable on the Lialda.
The problem is, Lialda takes a while to begin working, and some of us are intolerant of the 5-ASA meds. If I had to make a guess, I would guess that you are having an adverse reaction to the Lialda, since it is rather uncommon to be intolerant of prednisone.
On the other hand, if you have already tapered the prednisone dosage way down, then you may not be getting enough of it to maintain control, and the Lialda has not had time to have a significant effect. It's tough to say, when you're taking two drugs at the same time.
If you talk with your doctor, ask about taking Entocort, in place of the prednisone, so that you can safely take it long enough to actually develop a stable state or remission.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Agree with Tex on the combo of drugs you are taking (i.e. not a good idea).
They tried that on me. And not only did I feel worse, but I couldn't figure out which drug was causing it.
Over time, I have learned that for me, Asacol (a 5ASA) is more effective for my condition (or at least it is more effective for me at this point in my condition).
Have you modified your diet yet?
