Hi califgranny. I have not had a chance to hi yet. So welcome from New Hampshire. Yes certainly dairy products including milk can give you D. I have not had any milk in about 4 years. For me the big offending foods are in order of problem

1.) Soy
2.) Gluten
3.) Raw fruits or veggies (well cooked are ok)
4.) Milk or other milk based products

It initially seems daunting but it is doable to cook and eat without these ingredients. It just requires an change in mindset and learning a few new recipes.

What are you doing for diet and if needed meds?

No, gluten-free foods will certainly not cause D for someone who is not gluten-sensitive. Anyone can safely cut gluten out of their diet without worrying about the absence of gluten somehow causing an adverse reaction - that would be impossible, because gluten is not an essential diet requirement for any human.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It depends upon the other ingredients in the almond milk. Some contain guar gum, some contain carregeenan, some soy, etc. If you are intolerant to any of these additives, you can get D. I can drink Almond Dream milk, but not Pacific Almond milk because it contains carregeenan. I prefer my homemade almond milk to any of the purchased brands because it doesn't have any additives and it tastes better. But it requires some effort to make it.
