A short update......

Post by Mars »

Hi everyone!

I've been away for awhile and don't seem to post when things are going good - just when life takes its unexpected and difficult turns and I need somewhere to turn for :grouphug:

Larry and I have moved and are staying with my FIL while we do some serious renovations on a home we purchased in January. The home belonged to Larry's grandparents and then his uncle. The home has not had many upgrades or repairs in the last 20 years and the previous renter was literally a hoarder. It has taken us 6 weeks to get it cleaned out and identify the major repairs to make the home safe to live in. Once we get those repairs done, we plan to move in and renovate one room at a time.

In the meantime, I am trying to keep my FIL's home as clean as I can and have been cooking meals and cleaning for him. He is 74 and had a stroke about 10 years ago.

We lost our beloved Sadie Mae (9 year old red bloodhound) the 9th of February. Totally unexpected; one minute she was fine and then a few hours later when we returned home she was gone.    We think she died from a heart attack but we will never know.

I am still unemployed and Larry was off of work for about 6 months last year with two knee surgeries. He is healing very well from a partial knee replacement and returned to work the beginning of February.

Needless to say, the ole MC head has shown itself in the last two months! Soooooooo not enjoying that either lol

I think that about covers our life the last few months! I'm at a standstill with the house right now so maybe I will be able to post more often for awhile!

Mars,

It's nice to get an update from you, although it sounds like you've had your share of problems. I'm sorry that you lost Sadie Mae. She was too young to die.

I've wondered if you were able to find another position in this economy. It must have been a struggle to have Larry off work, too.

It sounds like your home renovation is keeping you busy. I hope it all goes well. I hope your MC stops acting up, too. You've had a lot of stress, which doesn't help.

Hi Mars, thanks for the update. I bet Larry is happy to be getting back to work, hopefully he is recovering well. From this and your earlier post its sounds like the house, although a lot of work will end up being a great opportunity.

That's very sad about Sadie Mae, its tough when you loose a friend and member of the family like that.

Best wishes and I hope that things work out for you with the house and employment.

Hi Mars,

I'm so sorry to hear about Sadie Mae. At least she didn't have to suffer. It seems that the old Morton Salt logo is accurate - when it rains, it pours. :sigh:

I hope that things start going much more smoothly, now that Larry is able to work, again.

:grouphug:

Thanks for the update.

Love,

Morning Mars,

Well you have really had your share of upheaval in your life and sorry the MC is flared by up. So sorry to hear about Sadie - so hard when a family member is lost and yes, our pets are family members.

Bet Larry is sure glad that he is working again and hope you can find something but in the meantime, you sure have your hands full.

Love, Maggie

So great to see a post from you. I had been wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear your MC is more active but you didn't mention your eye problems so hopefully that has been resolved.

Sorry about Sadie Mae also. I'm glad she didn't linger and suffer though.

I hope the plans for the house progress smoothly and both you and Larry stay as healthy as possible. I'm glad he has recovered enough to return to work.

Take care of yourselves..........
