article on histamine and histamine intolerance
In the time I already had MC, but was still in the treadmill to get my diagnosis, I had done some research in what could be wrong with me, histamine intolerance was one of the possibilities I explored. In my search I found this article, I thought maybe interesting for others who are histamine intolerant.

Thank you for posting this. I have been struggling to see an improvement in my MC conditions after 7 months of strict diet, and I have begun to reflect on articles relative to mast cell and histamine involvement. I have never been able to verify if I had any intolerance to gluten or casein (negative biopsies, celiac blood tests, IgE allergy tests and Enterolab tests), but in the past I have been dx to be strongly "yeast intolerant".
I am also sure, stress has played a major role in my case. Abdominal pain remains my main symptom.
It started to appear to me, like the origin of my MC could be related to histamine intolerance, rather than gluten. I have therefore experimented yesterday with taking an antihistaminic drug ( zyrtec), and I have to say, that so far I feel much better, with 80% of my pain gone. What I am still concerned with though, is that I have suffered a substantial and prolongued weight loss (20%) over an 18 month period, and although I have found a reference, that mastocytic enterocolitis can cause weight loss,(http://www.gipath.com/files/Mastocytic% ... CR_pdf.pdf) the mechanism itself has not been explained. Maybe Tex or some of you could have an idea... I am trying now to figure if and how I can have some Mediator Release tests done, and in the meantime I will eliminate also the foods high in histamine from my diet ( I think the ok foods list will become terribly short now...).

Unfortunately, many of with histamine issues are gluten intolerant and I do believe it is involved in some way. You may need to avoid many grains along with histamine restrictions. BTW, there is a lab in Poland that will run MRT, so if you can get blood overnighted there it is a possibility. I believe the name is Isolabs.the origin of my MC could be related to histamine intolerance, rather than gluten

That is one of the things I have been wondering too, since I have MC: is there a relation between my nose allergy, skin allergy and food allergy (well intolerance). I have been taking zyrtec for years and now I am using zyzal for my nose allergy (I now it a bit of simple English, what I mean is anything that smells strong makes my sneeze). If I don't take this medication, it's like having a constant cold. My allergy is not season related, I have been tested for several things all negative. So they call it a non specific allergy. I was already using Zyzal when my MC started, so I don't think my zyzal controls my MC. My nose did get better over the years, I don't use any nose spray anymore (yes also one with budesonide, what is good for the nose is good for the bowels)
For my skin allergy, I also have been tested and was positive a 5 of 6 compounds. Simply said avoid anything with perfume and I will be fine ( includes washing powder).
Since a couple of years, wool is a new problem, irritates the skin and makes my sneeze. So goodbye to the wool part of my wardrobe.
And actually I am not surprised at all having so much food intolerances too.
So yes I keep on wondering if there is a relation between all these allergy/intolerances things. They have on thing in common, it's an activity of the immune system. They like to talk about an overactive or overreacting immune system. But I don't think that is wright. When I look at my whole body/mind system, I am very sensitive. I can smell things far before other smell it, hear things others don't hear etc. I don't hear of smell better, I just notice things much earlier. I need to blind my sleeping room 100% (or wear a sleeping mask) if I don't want to wake up at four in the morning in summer. I don't know if anybody ever here, has heard of "high sensitive persons". If they had to invent one, they could you me as blue print.
In this context, I think my immune system is also very sensitive. So anywhere in my body where there is contact with the outside world, skin, nose, bowel I get a reaction. Also I don't believe in big influence of stress, if I am very calm or very stressed out, if I put a creme's with perfume on or burn a scented candle, I will start scratch/sneeze anyway. With MC, personally I think, that the food is of bigger influence than stress. The outside influences food, smells, perfumed creme's are the stress factor to the body. It's the food that is the stress.
