The New Chatroom is Operational :conversation:
Ok, the new chatroom is set up. You will notice a "Chat" link at the upper right corner of the regular phpBB link group, (above). If you click on the link, it will take you to the main chatroom. Presumably, you will have to register, but once registered, you should be automatically logged in to the chatroom, if you are logged in to the board, and conversely, you should not be able to log in to the chatroom, unless you are logged in to the board. Please let me know if you find that it behaves differently from what I have described.
To see the details of how the various features of the chat service work, click on the questionmark icon, under the main chat window. It may be a little tricky getting a conversation going, though, due to the fact that the board traffic is pretty slow these days, most of the time.
If anyone has any luck catching someone else online, and you manage to actually use the chat service, please let us know how it works. Also, if you have any questions, the FAQ link works. If you don't find the answer to your question there, please post it here on the MMB.
It looks to me like a pretty good chat service, considering that it's free. They offer premium services, if anyone prefers to upgrade to a service with more features, but, of course, you have to pay for the premium services.
Let us know what you think.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
If someone needs a private place to discuss family issues, or whatever, you can set up a private conversation in a "subroom", and even assign passwords, so that no one else can see it. When the last person leaves a "subroom", it automatially closes, but the main chatroom is always there.
You're very welcome,
Wayne

Jill,
Sorry I was AWOL when you visited the Chatroom. The reason my name showed up there, was because I went through it to download a new installation of Java. I wasn't really in the room, I went past it. The download took over an hour on this slow dialup connection. Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you, I just wasn't actually in the chatroom.
It appears that you were using it correctly. When the download finished, I went back through the room, and I noticed that Momster had been there also.
My browser was crashing every time I logged off the chatroom, so I decided that maybe I had a Java problem. Hopefully, the next time my name shows up on the list, I'll actually be there.
See you next time,
Tex

Tex,
You didn't waste time getting the chat room set up did ya? Wow, I'm going to check it out now although its 11pm AK time so most of you are tucked in bed- I'll just talk to myself for awhile.
Sorry to have missed you all earlier. Bet it was fun.
Love,
Joanna

Sorry I missed everyone - this should be fun!
I ended up falling asleep in the chair around 8 and then went to bed to fall immediately asleep around 11. Slept until the alarm went off this morning. Bummer. Oh well, maybe tonight!
This board is just so cool!

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha

Hazel,
You were probably right. There are 11 little squares with icons below the chat window. The one on the right is the exit link, and clicking on it will allow you to officially exit the chatroom, so that everyone there knows that you have left. After that though, you will probably have to click on the "MICROSCOPIC COLITIS SUPPORT Forum Index" link, above the window in the page that it takes you to, in order to return to the discussion board index page.
If you click on the box with the question mark, it will take you to an explanation of all the details of using the Chatroom.
To be honest, it works better than I had hoped it would.
