Newly prescribed SSRI by gastro and entocort pt 2??

Post by laurenla520 »

Hi guys! long time no talk. Well after a short stint working at a car dealership, and quite alot of embarassment i visited the gastro again. I know this was not the best of decisions but i quit taking the entocourt after not even a week, i dont know why but i feel like it makes me has to go even more!No one can atest to this?? ugh and the sweating. So i was off that taking vicodin and such, again not the best, but i revisited the gastro and he gave me lexapro for the gas which he had attributed to IBS and told me to continue entocort for mc. i know some of your mc was brought on by an ssri so im wondering if that can excacerbate my MC?? So here i am retrying entocourt determined to give it time to see some results i was just expecting a miracle with it. I thought while taking entocourt one could eat gluten, but being so tired of all this i also plan to give gluten free another go

i might add that my d has never been as horrific as i have read on the board, its just VERY frequent soft skinny stools with the constant urge to pass them, and always feeling like there is more to empty.WHEn will the stools harden from entocort? if they dont does that mean anothr condition could be causing this? man just got invited to go to las vegas tomoro but no it will only result bad for me..goshhh just feeling pretty down glad to have feedback

I 'collected' (I say collected because I seem to be building up a collection of medical conditions) MC through an SSRI so obviously thet are a no go for me. I'm sure that many people who do have MC have been advised to not take SSRI's, but one of the regulars will answer this better than me. How long have you been on them?

I had an immediate result on entocort, almost within a couple of hours, I took my first dosage late afternoon and I had my first formed stool the next morning. This has happened to other too, but it also happens that it can take up to a couple of weeks to see a result. So it varies from person to person, but I think you should at least give it a try for a couple of weeks.

I personally think it is wise the give the diet a try anyway, if you are on or off medication. Avoid gluten in any case, and also consider skipping dairy and soy of the menu.

I was already gluten free for a couple of weeks when I started with entocort, maybe that is one of the reasons I had such a quick response.

Anyway, I hope the second attempt with entocort will be more successful than your first one and good luck with the diet.

Lauren,

It took between 3-4 weeks for Entocort to make a difference for me. Give it time; one week is not enough time. I also went GF a month before I began taking Entocort.

Entocort should resolve your symptoms, especially if you change your diet.
