Lack of Sleep Found to Be a New Risk Factor for Colon Cancer

Post by MBombardier »

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 112741.htm
Although why fewer hours of sleep may lead to colon cancer is unknown, Dr. Li said some of theories include that less sleep may mean less production of melatonin, a natural hormone that in animals has been linked to DNA repair, or that insulin resistance may underlie the link between sleep disturbance and cancer development.
But since melatonin is a hormone, supplementing with it is not a good idea?

I had one of these adenomas, and there is no colon cancer in my family. With my husband working seven nights/week, unbroken sleep is truly rare for me. However, since I went gluten-free I do go back to sleep fairly quickly instead of lying awake for hours.

I don't see well in the dark, so I keep the curtains open, and there is light that comes through the bedroom door. I have read that we are supposed to sleep in pitch dark. I am not sure I can handle that.

This made me think of a statement that someone said about a newspaper in the UK called the Daily Mail... basically someone said that the Daily Mail says everything gives you cancer....

I'm sure there was a point to me saying that....

I think drs should just announce that life leads to death, cos that is pretty much what it does....

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
