Sara,

I had high hopes for Lara Bars initially, but the raw fruit and fiber seem counterproductive to my problem. Though I maynhave to risk it for a blueberry flavor. My favorite.

Thanks, Rich - I thought of you yesterday as I navigated past them in the wildly crowded market. I usually do my shopping during the week, but needed to pick up dinner fixings. Once I escaped the crowd of stunned shoppers ogling the prepared foods and cheeses, I was like a hot knife through butter, ignoring everything but cauliflower, meat and chicken-soup bones. (This store is high-end and huge, and the layout is conducive to wandering around and drooling - to my husband, this is like Toys R Us for grownups.)

Only the Larabars tempted me to stray from my mission, but I thought it was too soon to experiment - I had remembered you mentioning them in another thread.

I ate some lightly cooked greens in the last few days, and even a few bites of salad, without a problem, but don't want to go overboard with fiber. And maybe I shouldn't have too much dried fruit. Having said that, I've never tasted their blueberry flavor, which will be first on my list when/if the time comes, based on 2 votes in this thread!

My current go-to snack is a thermos of chicken broth, but that's a lot less packable. And won't be so appealing in mid-July. I'll let you know what my portable eats turn out to be.

I've had the gingersnap (pre-MC). And the lemon bars. Funny how I say I don't care for sweets ;) O Larabars, please forgive me for ever saying that!

I was obsessed with the chocolate mole, but I think I'll start with something a little less kicky. I used to buy boxes of them, but had to hide them or my husband would eat them at an amazing pace. I think of them as a just-in-case food - if the schedule goes off the rails, or I'm stuck, it's good to have something in the car or purse (or in the pantry, if you can resist the temptation!).

I recently tried a couple of recipes for home-made bars, and I do want to give that a shot again (but am currently working on my breakfast/lunch/dinner skills).

Bon appetit and good health,

Sara
