Mags your post was like a little message sent on angel wings! You explained EXACTLY how I feel right now and just knowing that someone recognizes and sympathizes with my state of being is so comforting for some reason. I know everyone on this board understands the ins and outs of this disease but you just nailed how I am feeling right now. I believe someone needs to put that post on the front page for everyone to read!! I do feel like I am bombarded with differing opinions from every possible angle so I'm going to take your advice and just BREATHE.

Thanks to everyone else for all the great information also. I think I'm going to follow your advice and just stick with the diet and Entocort for now (other than my VitD supplement cause my D is really low).

I saw my GP today and went over everything that has gone on in the last few months (he wasn't happy with the 14 lb weight loss in 3 months) and he actually had some good advice also. He told me that even though controlling my LC symptoms are very important right now, I can't become so consumed by it that I ignore the rest of my body. He pointed out that there are other health issues that can be brought on by such a restricted diet and although he agrees with the diet, he said he only agrees "for the time being." IOW, he'll support me until he feels I am at risk for some other "ailment".

Thanks again everyone! I don't know what I'd do without you all.

That's an unfair statement, and kind of thoughtless, IMO. You didn't lose most of those 14 pounds on "the diet", did you? You lost it because you were not on the diet, and so your MC was totally out of control.

Active MC causes a nutrient malabsorption problem, whether your doctor realizes it or not. It doesn't matter how healthy your diet is, if the food goes right through you, and you don't absorb the nutrients. Until you get the MC symptoms under control, a healthy diet is a moot point, unfortunately. That's just the nature of the disease.

Your gut won't heal, with a "healthy" diet, that goes right through you. It will heal, with a "safe" diet. Once it begins to heal, then you can begin to eat a healthy diet.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Coach Polly--

I'm so glad. When I saw the title of your post, I knew I had to say something. For some reason, ever since you joined the forum, I just seemed to have a picture of you in my head. I think you really have a good idea of who you are, and MC is something that can just rattle the heck out of even the most confident of people. It sure as er..crap did me..

So glad I could help.

Love,

Mags
