I have a question about prednisone. For the month of March I was on Prednisone 3 time that month. And I'm wondering does that affect M.C. in any way? I'm currently having a flare up now. Due to stress and being angry over the weekend. So I'm suffering with it now. But I'm wondering if I need to take prednisone again and it will be the fourth time will it do anything to my M.C?
I'm gonna call the dr and see what they say and see if they gonna put me on there.
I appreciate any comments or help.

Hi Tami,
Well, Prednisone should control your symptoms as long as you are taking it, but the symptoms will return soon after you stop taking it. You can't take it indefinitely, because after a while, it will have severe adverse effects on your adrenals, (your ability to produce natural cortisol), it will weaken your bone density, and it will suppress your immune system, making you vulnerable to infections, and it will retard your ability to heal, (including the ability of your intestines to heal).
Entocort is a much safer choice, if you are going to need a long-term medication treatment. Of course, Entocort is much more expensive, unfortunately.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
