~My New Home~
I hope that soon I figure out all of the quirks in this place. If I set the 'smoke alarm' off one more time I'm sure the Fire Department will arrive.
My new home is much much smaller than I'm use to. However, I Love It! I've been here 1 month and have set the smoke alarm off 4 times.
1~ When I was making toast I forgot to check the settings
after packing & unpacking. Well my friends I burnt my
toast! OFF went the detector!
2~ I decided to bake a cake. Yummy! Something must be
wrong with the setting on the oven because my cake
wasn't even in the oven 20 minutes when something
smelt burnt. SURE ENOUGH! The detector went
OFF again!
3~ I love the smell of my 3 wick candle that smells like
apple pie. Mmmmmm~ After about 2 hours I decided to
to blow out the wicks. As I was sitting in my recliner
reading I notice a FOG developing. OMG! NOT
AGAIN! Yuppers ~ the detector went OFF, I opened up
my door to let the smoke out ~ Waved a dish towel at
the detector with the hopes of getting the darn thing
to STOP! Turned the fan on over the stove & put my
3 wicked candle under it to vent what was coming off
the embering wicks.
4~ Last night I made myself a rib eye steak using the broiler
on my stove. The aroma of the steak was awesome.
Went to the bathroom, when I came out smoke was
coming from the oven & yes my friends I set the @#$%
detector OFF again.
The moral of my experience: I'm going to buy myself an Easy Bake Oven.
I have been busy the past couple days. I think I may have mentioned that I volunteer some of my time to Heartland Hospice by crocheting.
There was a terrible accident the 1st winter storm we had in Michigan and one of the nurses had left a patient to check on another, lost control of her car & is still in hospital. There was a Benefit Auction to raise money to help with her expenses. One of my crocheted blankets was put up for silent auction. A lady there bid on it hoping to win the bid so she could give it to her daughter for her 1st Grand-child. Someone out bid her. Needless to say when I heard what happened I told Pam who is a Grief Coordinator that if someone bought the yarn I needed I would make one for them to give to this lady. Last night I finally finished!
Today was my Grief Support Group. After our meeting I joined everyone at the Food Court in the Mall. The meeting was over by 11:45 a.m. I didn't leave until 2:00 p.m. to come home. I was having a really nice time with everyone. Tomorrow is my 1 on 1 with my therapist so once again I will be gone for awhile. LOL Once I get back home I really have to work on my unpacking that is still in boxes in my bedroom. Bet you can't guess what I have to find a permant place for. YOU GOT IT! All my yarn, material, scrapbooking materials etc. have to have a place so I don't stub my toe on another box. DANG! That smarts ~
Thank You for letting me share agian. I'm starting to feel more comfortable posting so maybe soon I will SURPRISE myself and finally post something like before in the line of ENCOURAGEMENT~
Love & God's Blessings

You have no idea how grateful I am to ALL of you. I truly hope this is the last time I fall into that Deep Black Hole.

Hi jodi it sounds like a great place. As far the smoke detector, it sounds like it is close to the kitchen. They make ones that are intended for use close to the kitchen that do not go off so easily, I had the same issue that you are having now and had it changed to the 'kitchen' model which solved the problem.
All the talk about the cake and your other cooking is making me hungry
Take care

Jodi,
That was quite a story about the smoke alarm. Thanks for sharing that.
You sound much more relaxed. It's great to see that things are going more smoothly.
That was really nice of you to crochet another blanket for them. That has to be a heck of a lot of work. Good for you for being so kind and considerate.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex & Joe:
Thank You both for reading my New Home adjustments. I really am more relaxed here I haven't felt this way for a very long time. I do not miss those 'night dream memories' they made bedtime something I dreaded.
I will check about the Kitchen Type Smoke Alarms. I was starting to think I was going to have to save my pennies & buy a grill to do all my food outside.
Today was a beautiful day in Michigan, mid 50's. Tomorrow they are calling for it to reach possibly 70

Hi Jodi,
That reminded me of a small apartment I lived in for a year in Albuquerque over 20 years ago. There was a small washer and dryer in the bedroom (stacked). If the dryer was on too long, the smoke detector would go off. Couldn't dry clothes very late in the evening. Don't remember which room the detector was in! Probably didn't matter - everything was close together!
Take care,

Dear Jodi,
I am so glad to see you posting again. I know you have gone through a very rough time. You are starting to sound more like the Jodi I remember.
I loved hearing about your smoke detector story. I've had some of the same things happen to me, maybe just not so close together.
Take care of yourself,
Jan

Morning Jodi,
Well I think I would give that smoke alarm a darn wack with a mixing spoon. Way too much trouble for you and agree with Joe that it might just be too close to the kitchen.
You sound so much more upbeat and I am thrilled you do. You are developing your own plan for life going forward and it is a joy to see.
Love, Maggie
