Researchers at the University of Chicago Department of Medicine say they have found what may be a trigger for celiac disease, which is a genetic inability to digest the gluten found in certain grains
Researchers noted that the results of their study indicate that vitamin A, which can be used to treat inflammation, may have more negative effects than benefits when given to people with celiac disease.

there seems to be an increase or more awareness via media regarding studies into allergy/intolerance reactions by our bodies....

:headscratch:

I don't get it. Everyone has interleukin 15 and retinoic acid in their digestive tract. That means that interleukin 15 and retinoic acid are not actually the triggers - certain peptides in the amino acid chains of the gluten in those grains are the triggers. True, if IL 15 and retinoic acid were absent, the reaction couldn't proceed, but that would also be the case if the T cells weren't there, or if a zillion other immune system components were absent. The main point is, the reaction couldn't proceed if those grains were absent from the diet.

They appear to have been desperate to publish an article, but couldn't find anything to write about. LOL. Aren't they trying to reinvent the wheel, or am I overlooking something?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
