Emily Rice Free

Post by ronipow »

Emily is going rice free after I read Paleo diet and Breaking the Vicious Cycle. I guess if there is too many things in the gut that promote bacteria
growing like rice and probably potatoes too they need to be taken out to starve the bacteria so the gut has a better chance to heal.

Tex, I know your busy. What do you think about this.

Also it seem that several people here on the board have done better not eating it. I think we will give it a try for a few weeks and see if we can get a norman.

Have you guys tried that test yet from Smokie Labs (?)? I can't remember the full name right now. They have a whole bunch of different tests. I had a stool test done with them and it came back that I had no bifidum and my e-coli was a little higher than it needed to be. Haven't had the parasite testing yet. I figured I'd wait till after the colonoscopy to see what they came up with.

Much love

arlene,

We are seeing the doctor this Monday. Iwant him to order a couple of test from there. Great Smokey Diagnostic. I want to get the parasite one done. I hate to be doing all of this and it turns out to be a parasite they missed. My girlfriend had D for a year and it turned out to be a parasite. One that a regular lab here didn't pick up. One course of antibiotic cleared
it up.

Hi Roni,
I don't expect to be much help here, but I've read the book, used it a lot in a modified form, because even the carbs she recommends (the simple ones, increase problems for me). But, I'm one who is affected by rice. I can't do rice milk, brown, white, enriched, any of those. To my way of thinking, it has to be the level of sugars in rice that do it, rather than an allergy. I think some of us might have more damage to the part of the intestine that breaks down complex carbs, and we're flooded with "bad bacteria food" farther down the digestive tract. Good luck with the dietary changes . . .
all my best, Marsha
