This reminds me of how lucky i was to be diagnosed so quickly with this condition.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It's even more shocking that she lived near an urban area like Philadelphia. I could understand perhaps how a rural doctor wouldn't have experience with the disease or know of the symptoms but to have doctors who I assume see a lot of patients and probably network with others in the medical community in a populated area like Philadelphia, it's quite shocking. I wonder if any of the doctors ever sent her to a gastroenterologist or endocrinologist or other specialist?

Annie
G'day from Australia and welcome to the group!

re this article:
in my opinion, i think a big part of the issue is that if it doesnt appear in a blood test or a poop test or an xray it doesnt exist. Only when people are chronically ill do the investigations go further and even then the outcome can be reliant on if you have an ok doctor or an excellant doctor.

as you will see via various discussions on this forum, none of us with MC are exactly the same, our symptoms can be slightly different, our triggers can be different, so with conditions like this, if you dont match an exact list of symptoms then diagnosis can take time

take care
