Hiya Hazel-----

I ,sometimes, confuse myself---- :lol: :roll:
There are times when I go waaaaaay up and then I get the note---call me about your LIPIDS?? MY GP always says---*walk*
But I will say that NOW I really believe that Xtra Xercising does help---I knew it is good for U but I guess seeing results pushes one to do more???

I have been doing home-Xercising for years--low impact stuff with weights--just 2--weighing in @ 2 lbs. each---and Lou had shown me some things to do which he had learned @ the gym---

Also, I do follow pretty good eating habits---went to a nutricionist,back a few years, due to the MCC. and she mapped out an eating plan for me and gave me a book on good and bad stuffs--

I really wasnt an *eater*---mostly junk stuff --my breakfast used to be coffee and cigarettes/cigarette smoking stopped cus Mr. Lou NEVER smoked(so perfect-hah)--so when he retired that was the end of smoking.

Hazel, I really stick to my eating habits faithfully----cus I know WHAT will cause the *D* to start--but do *sneak* in some GOODIES!!!
I also do the fresh veggies---cooked to baby soft ingesting---and broil/bake my main meals---sometimes I add a seasoning---and sweet taters have become my companion---I LUVE them--
Also due to the hiatal hernia I have a little snack between meals--(mostly a piece of fruit/saltines or grahams--
And do the free/low fats and watch the SALTs/sugar contents~~~

We do have a problem here cus Lou luves to eat---anything/everything unhealthy :bricks: tons of butter etc.---but now he is learning (a wee bit) to eat what I do----BLAH--hahaha -he tells me!!! Hey, I told him *U had the clogged arteries--not me*---well as far as I know!!!!!

PS. Not to mislead U to think I do this by myself :oops: ---I do have help--I do have meds. for cholesterol---

And to add--my blood pressure was perfect!!!

Hi Barbara,

Thank you so much for such a complete reply. You know, I THINK I am eating "healthy" but really I am not I guess. I could do so much better. I eat too much sugar and too many rich things. Like for breakfast I rationalize using half and half and sugar in my coffee because I use Smart Balance instead of butter on my cream of rice!

I ride my bike every day for 1/2 hour but haven't been walking much since the arthritis got so bad. Maybe after I get my new knee I'll walk more. My surgery was moved from the 29th to the 31st.

On the bright side, I hobbled around the par 3 today and on hole number 5 i got MY FIRST EVER BIRDIE! Oh my gosh is that ever fun. I know it will inspire me to work hard on my rehab so I can get back on the golf course!

It looked like you don't eat so many carbs. Is that true?

first let me send good wishes on your knee surgery--
And U golf---well thats good Xercize----and with a bad knee I say U deserve a :star: for that---
And riding a bike is great---so U R really getting some good Xercize considering your knee issues-----that has to be an *OUCH*
U R a doer even with ya pain---

I started watching carbs last year----lotta goodies that are carb free but it can drive ya crazy figuring whats this or that--

I have tried ATKINS carb free ice cream---and the carb free peanut butter cups---I luve PEANUT BUTTER too-- :grin:

I guess I did ok----and there is an carb-free ice cream in AZ--called BLUE BUNNY---great---and Walmart carries BLUE BUNNY yogurt which is great-- lite/fat free----- :goodvibes: and CARB free yogurt----good also

Thats what I munch on in AZ----
And I dont use sugar-----I learned to give that up ---I do drink coffee cus it doesnt bother me----

I do drive Lou crazy when we shop but sometimes when I see something outrageous---to heck with checking ingrediants-- :lol: I buy it and enjoy it--
And dont U hate when they change the date of an operation!!! The waiting is awful---

So please let me know how U R doing----
Ive done alotta trial and error/and cheated too---sometimes I paid the piper but it was so good to dig into something gooey that was a No-NO

PS. I also eat the fake eggs ---the real ones were doing me in----they not bad----and as I write all this I see all the stuff I gave up---making me HUNGRY now----think I will dip into some peanutbutter/choocolate Atkins ice now----
