Well, I got in last night. BOY does it feel good to be home! Traveling is fun, but exhausting.
Anyways, here is a synopsis of my vacation:
Aug 19: We flew out of Boston, changed planes in Cincinnatti bound for Honolulu. It is a LONG flight from Cincy to Honolulu! I pretty much crashed when we got to the hotel at abou6:30 Hawaii time having only had about 5 hours of sleep the night before.
Aug 20: Went to the beach for a while and went shopping...did most of my souviner shopping and then we had to be on the bus at 11:30 to go to the concert competition. We almost won because the only other band doing the concert competition was flying in on Northwest and the mechanics had just gone on strike and they almost didn't get to the competition. Needless to say we came in 2nd. After that, I went for a walk, then we went out for some supper and drinks on the beach.
Aug 21: Went to Diamond Head, which is an old volcano crator. There is a path about a mile long that you can hike up to the rim of the crater and look out over Waikiki beach (where we were staying) and all. Very beautiful. Then after lunch, we had to go march the parade. We had to wait for about 2 hours at the start of the parade and it was SO hot! But it started to cool off a bit just before we started marching. There were people along the whole parade route as we marched down the beachfront street. The band I'm in plays the song, then sings the song, then plays it again. We do Yankee Doodle, Grand Old Flag, all the military anthems and God Bless America. It is so fun when the crowd starts singing along with us. I didn't see it, but I guess we were even on TV on the evening news. After that I went out to dinner with some friends from the band.
Aug 22: In the morning I went for a swim, then we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was a long hot day, but a good day. Got to see the other side of Ohau, and had a luau at night. Lots of fun.
Aug 23: Went to Pearl Harbor in the morning. What a moving place that is. I didn't do much in the afternoon except relax around the pool, take a nap, etc.
Aug 24: Got up early and went snorkling. It was so cool. I'd never been, but it was lots of fun. Amazingly tiring though. Then we had to get back to the hotel to check out and all and start the trip home.
So now I'm home, faced with a lot of laundry and having to clean the house because we are having an anniversary party for Geoff's parents tomorrow.
Love,
Katy

HA HA Peg,
I've got to over do on th ehouse cleaning! Geoff's Aunt and Uncle are staying here tonight! Don't even know for sure when they are arriving, but needless to say the place is a disaster.
Fortunately we had a family bbq here a couple of weeks ago so its not as MUCH of a disaster as before that. But still got my work cut out for me.
