Sue,
I agree that your doctor may have been unrealistic in his opinion about the Asacol. In my experience we all react so differently and from personal experience I can't for the life of me figure out how he could say that? I suggest being very careful about cutting back and just do it slowly...nothing worse than being back to square one and trying to start all over.
How does that saying go? "Slow and steady wins the race..."
Keep us posted - I'm very curious as to how it all comes out in the end (can you believe I just said that? )
Love,
Peg

Oh my, Peg - I can't believe you got away with that crack.
That one is definitely a groaner or at least an eye-roller, but it caught me at just the right time and in the right mood that it really cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh - I needed one today!

Diagnosed November 2004, Used Asacol and Lialda, sometimes worked, sometimes made it worse. Entocort always works but hate it. Remission only lasts 3-6 months and then back on Entocort. Enterolab test July 2017, now gluten free. Time will tell!

Its funny that you mention magnesium. I had terrible stomach pain and it even sent me home from work a couple of time. I had just started taking calcium & mag. I have been taking it for several weeks now and I rarely have a stomach ache.
I am going to see me GI next month and I faxed him a list of all the things I am taking right now. I wonder what he will say about the mag. I will need to check out my vitamin book and see what info it has on mag.
I hope your feeling better. That stomach pain is the worst! I felt I was on the verge of throwing up or having D at any minute.
Hugs
