Caffine is outta here!
My 24 year addiction to caffine is done! I never thought I would EVER be able to manage with out my cuppa coffee in the morning. One cup with a spoonful of instant coffee added and I was good to go.
No more coffee and I am feeling great! I find I don't need it to get me going in the morning and help me through the day. One more thing out of the picture on the way to clearing out the crap! (sorry, my hubby hates that word but to me the bad stuff in my life is crap)!
Its going to be hard once the rainy season sets in. Coffee is a big deal here in Portland.
Hugs!

Lori!
Good for you! But be careful. I has a full-blown withdrawal when I stopped coffee cold turkey - headache, horrible hip/leg cramps that kept me up all night. Luckily, Sally had warned me abnout it and suggested that I gradually cut back - like 1/4 cup decaff and 3/4 cup hi-test and then lower to half and half, etc. It worked. Now I do only decaf!
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
I did reduce gradually but I still got the horrible headache. I have been off the stuff for about 4 weeks now. I have been drinking Mate' Tea if I need a boost during the day. It gives you energy without the coffee jitters & its supposed to help with giving you a clear mind. I really need that! hehe!

I switched over to decaf gradually like you did, Polly. Worked like a charm. I became so sick one time with a fasting situation due to caffine withdrawal. There was a "health fair" at work and for one of the options I had to fast so so many hours for a blood test. Well, they didn't get to me until after lunch and soon after that I had to go home. Blinding headache and nausea.
Now, I seem to be able to have some "high test" occasionally without a problem or getting re-addicted. I try not to have it though.
Congrats Lori!!! A definite step in the right direction!!

OK, let me in on it . . . why are we all trying to get off coffee? Heck, it's about one of the only treats I have left, and the research says it might not be bad for people after all.

Diagnosed November 2004, Used Asacol and Lialda, sometimes worked, sometimes made it worse. Entocort always works but hate it. Remission only lasts 3-6 months and then back on Entocort. Enterolab test July 2017, now gluten free. Time will tell!

Caffeine is a secretagog, which means that it can increase the output of the adrenal glands, resulting in a possible increase in the production of steroidal hormones.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex, you are exactly right about caffeine messing up your adrenals! I am reading a book about adrenal fatigue. No ifs, ands or buts about it, you HAVE to give up caffine if you want to heal your adrenal's. I noticed a HUGE change and rather quickly once I was off the coffee. As much as I love my coffee I can't go back. I feel so much better!
