A place called Vulcan
It's been a while, I hope everyone is happy and well, I'm fine. I sold my business to take some time off and travel a little, relax a lot and generally bum around. We leave next week for Vulcan MI. we'll be there for a few weeks and a detour to Northwest Ontario, then on to New York for a short stay before we head to see my fathers family in Kintyre Scotland and then to Ballycotton Ireland to visit my mothers family. I'm looking forward to spending time with my great aunt who will turn 100 years old while we're there. She spent lots of time with us when my grandmother was alive, but its been 15 years or so since we last saw her.
MC wise things are well, still enjoying a gluten free life, with a rare flare up once in a while, otherwise it seems life is normal. When we get home I figure out what I'll do, I'm leaning towards a nursery of native plants, whatever it is I hope its at a much slower pace and plenty of time outdoors. I wish you all a happy summer

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Hey Dan,
It's great to see you again, and it's good to hear that things are going well. That trip you have planned sounds like a very satisfying journey, and an awesome, (awesomely relaxing), adventure. Good for you. A lot of us dream about such things, but we never seem to get around to actually doing it.
Apparently there are some great genetics in your family. I hope your trip turns out to be everything that you hope it will be.
And, as always, that's an absolutely superb photo.
Thanks for sharing,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Morning Dan,
Congratulations to you on your decision to step it down and just think about what the future holds for you. The trip sounds fantastic and as Tex said, one so many of us dream about but never do. Couple of more years and I am heading that route when I retire - hopefully. Just the vehicle is the impediment at this point due to cost but will work that out.
Your pictures always capture the moment - lovely.
Love, Maggie

So good to see a post from you!! AND, of course, one of your wonderful pictures!!
The trip sounds like a dream come true. Hope it will meet (even exceed) all your expectations.
Hope you will check in when you are able. Wonderful that you are doing well.

Have a wonderful trip, Dan! My cousin (we are third-generation Scots-American) is doing the genetic testing to see what we can see about how we cam to Scotland and when, and where from. We still have relatives living in the Strathaven area near Glasgow.
I'd love to go to Scotland and Ireland someday. I hope you will post some pictures for us from your trip!
