:bigbighug: from someone who has been dealing with a migraine off and on for three days. Just looking at the emoticon beating itself over the head makes it feel worse, lol.

If it's not one thing, it's another, huh? I wish you a great night's sleep with no pain and waking refreshed !!

Oma,

I hope you're feeling better this morning, and the world is a brighter place.

Oma and Marliss - hope you're both doing much, much better by now!!!

Just couldn't resist adding my latest pain in the butt (pun intended) to this thread - I have been in pretty severe pain for 6 days now - have a thrombosed external hemorrhoid and will have minor surgery next week . As Tex said, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Ouch, Kari!

I had a thrombosed hemmorrhiod after the birth of my second daughter. I went to the hospital and they removed the blood clot by slicing it - after freezing it, I believe.

They usually don't recommend surgery anymore because of the risk of an infection in the area. I've had them since, and usually after a week or so, the blood clot gets absorbed. Using Preparation H helps shrink it.

I hope your surgery is quick and uneventful and you have a speedy recovery.

Hi Gloria,

That's what I was hoping for, but after 6 days of non-stop pain, and a called in prescription of hydrocortisone, which simply increased the intense burning (as did preparation H), I went to my clinic to have it checked out today. The doctor did not think there was much chance of it healing by itself, and called to set up the surgery. Unfortunately I don't have the time to wait it out, since I'm leaving for Norway in a week and a half. So far it's showing no signs of improving. The only way I get relief is by taking sitz baths, and then icing.

This too shall pass - :sigh:.

Thanks for your well wishes.

Love,
Kari

P.S. Hope your "bumps" heal quickly :xfingers: .

Ah, Kari,

I momentarily forgot about your trip to Norway. Yes, you need it resolved before you go.

I think the Claritin is working. I'm not needing to scratch so much right now. That tells me that it was an allergic reaction, I guess.

One step at a time.

Kari,

I'm sorry you've been enduring this pain - and sorry you have to undergo a procedure to make it go away... I hope this small cloud over your wonderful vacation is soon past, and your pain is gone even sooner...

Love and healing thoughts,

Oma and Marliss, I hope you're feeling better.
Ouch, ouch, ouch, Kari. I'm so sorry you've got to go through this. Sometimes you wonder where that light is at the end of that tunnel. It seems like one things gets resolved and something else pops up to take its place. I hope you recover quickly and can enjoy your trip.

I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. Pain is the one thing that will send us into the black hole. Diarrhea, changing eating habits, family, friends and docs that don't understand are all manageable. Many times pain isn't.

I'll pray for a pain-free day for you tomorrow, and time to regain strength to manage.

JoAnn - so good to "see you" on the board and hear from you - thank you for your note.

Sara and Valerie - thank you for your well wishes.

I was hoping that I'd get better over this week-end and perhaps not have to do the surgery, but it does not seem likely :(.

Kari

Morning Oma, Kari and Marliss!

I do hope it is a better day for you and the pain is on its way to being nil. Kari, sorry to hear about the surgery and hope all goes well. I do understand what you are going through since back in the beginning of this disease I had 3 separate outpatient surgical procedures for the same condition.

Love, Maggie
